Some people tend to avoid both engines becuase they believe they consume lot of fuel when compare to the i4 engines.

For those who have used cars with both engines (i4 and V6) how significant is the fuel usage difference.

Let me correct this quickly,there is nothing like v4 it is four plug. The v6 is as a result of the meeting point of the plugs,it meets at a v- point

Now let's go to the discussion proper.
In the v6 engine we have 6 plugs and the opening valve is 6 for the flow of fuel for combustion, now while I used a v6 engine the acceleration is superb, you tend to achieve more miles faster than the 4 plug engine.

It does consume fuel but then it's movement balance the fuel consumption. The only challenge is when you stay in places like lagos where you have alot of traffic,then you won't enjoy the car very we.

Four plug engine takes less fuel for combustion because of its 4 valve opening, it takes less fuel compared to the v6. But the acceleration is less compared to v6

Kai! I saw one Nissan Armada with it's monstrous big V8 engine, I had nothing but envy for the owner of the vehicle. All that power that he's enjoying under the hood at his disposal. Yes they consume fuel with city driving and traffic. But the torque and power delivery. Chai!! Is the only thing that I can say.

The fuel consumption is not that much. A difference of 2mpg isn't much. I know some l4 engines that get poor gas mileage like 8mpg due to bad o2 sensor/ air flow ratio mixture.

Sorry to shock u guy, there is V4 engine. If u want to see one. There are some old Ford cars that have V4 engines. What u re suppose to say is that they re no longer in vogue. Thank u

I was about to respond to this when I saw his mention, thanks.

In sedans, 4 cylinder engine will almost always give you a better fuel 3conomy in city driving with stop and go traffic.

On the highway, the difference between the 4 cylinder and the v6 in the sedan is negligible. Sometimes it's as small as 3mpg.

A typical small family car with an i4 engine will average 8-9km per liter in city driving.
Same car with a v6 engine will give a out 6km per liter.

SUVs are notorious for fuel consumption but the i4 variants of most SUVs will give you a better mpg in the city but struggle to match the v6 mpg at highway speeds.

With the proposed price of N385 for fuel "fear" will be an understatement. It will be more like "avoidance", especially for owners of V8 and V12 engines.
