Because many Nigerian men are ignorant and selfish. If you go through messages even here and see how much hate they share about their own family members you will know that their wives and children are suffering. I will never be like that because the secret many men don’t know is that a man hated by his children is a poor man. Learnt from my grandfather and prosperity has graced us for generations. 2 Likes |

Gbammmm..... I think it happened in ur own family, so blame ur dad for his uncaring attitude and not every Father. who knows maybe ur waywardness and nonsensical attitude being displayed on nairaland are attributed to the way you ignored ur dad chastisement in which ur mum embraced you thinking she was showing motherly love[/quote] |

Bola146:Even if your father is a beast, is that how you portray him in public? Even if your dad abandoned you and your mum, have you cared to find out why? This says alot about your personality and upbringing. |

*GIVE YOUR KIDS THIS PIECE TO READ.* It takes a LIFETIME to realize that once DAD WAS THE BEST *WHEN I WAS 4 years old, I knew my dad to be THE BEST*... WHEN I WAS 6, I also knew Dad to have known it all... *WHEN I WAS* 10 years of age, I knew Dad to be good. *WHEN I WAS* 12 years I began to think that Dad wasn't as good as he was when I was a little boy... *WHEN I WAS* 12 years old, I began discovering him to be more temperamental and strict as never before.... *WHEN I WAS* 16, I was convinced that he was an old school, and was not up to standard - to the current times we live in.... WHEN I turned 18, I thought Dad was very intolerant and hard to communicate with & also difficult to get along with... *WHEN I* turned 20, I realized that he wasn't an easy person, and began wondering how Mom was able to put up with him in all the years of marriage... *WHEN I* turned 25, it seemed like he had many objections to everything that I did.... *WHEN I* turned 30, I was convinced that we were not on the same page, and that nothing would ever please him... *WHEN I* turned 40, I then only began to realize how good my upbringing was, and that I should also raise my kids up in the same way... WHEN I was 45, I started wondering how did Dad ever put up with all the challenges he faced with us whilst we were growing up ... WHEN I became 50, I realized how difficult it was for Dad to have educated us and trying to instill good manners in us, thus I began wondering how he managed to tolerate our excesses WHEN I was 55 years of age, I only then started realizing the wisdom & foresight my Dad had of life in getting us to where we are today... When I turned 60, ONLY then did I eventually realize that *MY DAD WAS THE BEST* ******* It takes a lifetime to realize the true status of our parents. It takes us a lifecycle to really appreciate our parents. The difference being, as teens growing up, we selfishly view life within the confines of our own interests, whilst our parents view life selflessly, sacrificing everything for us. Sadly, we sometimes fail to understand that our parents are always our well wishers. At 40 only, do we then start to realize that what we believed when we were 4 to be true... Some are yet fortunate to have realized their parents true value whilst their parents were living, whilst others have unfortunately realized when it was too late - their parents have departed from this world; It's a painful guilt to live with. 1 Like 2 Shares |

I would say I love my mum more than my dad. My dad always shouts at me, I'm 26years old now, I can't remember or have any memory of my dad showing me love or affection for me, he is never around, when ever he manage to come and he notice a go out to play then, he would flog with koboko. Because of this I have social anxiety and low self-esteem. I can't relate with people, I run away and hide in the room when people come to visit us, I'm always very shy and indoors, my mum is always complaining to go out and make friends, I was not like this before o. He said what ever he did was to make me strong. I Don't know, I guess 2 Likes |

95% of children are have been simped by mothers. That is why some fathers suffer at old age when the wife would leave him to go stay with any of the children in obodo oyinbo. |

On the contrary it aint like that. For me it's the opposite. I love my Dad more than my mum. It's the connection between a Parent and a child or Guardian to a child that matters a child can even love his/her Guardian more than his/her parents. The heart felt welcoming and Love from my Dad to me am even yet to expirence it with someone else since His unfortunate demise This was because while I was been tagged stubborn neglected and seen like a trash from my Mum, my Dad welcomed and loved me unconditionally. But albeit it was equal. Would have love my Mum more than my Dad. So to me its just the stance from both parent to a child that matters. But nomly a child is more connected to Mum than Dad. But still if no love and seen as trash the love the child will have is towards who accepts him/her unconditionally and loved and cared for him/her 2 Likes |

I believe it is because most fathers doesn't create time to bond with their children. I so much loved my dad, I wasn't close to my mum until I lost my dad, in fact she was so scared of telling me when my dad died because of the bond. Presently I spend more time with my children than their mother does and I am reaping this already, my girls are so close to me. My advice to fathers, be a modern father, bond with your children, when you discipline them tell them why you did that. Shalom. 2 Likes |

Things are fast changing. Fathers are beginning to spend more time with their kids. Go to hospitals. The trend now is the mother carries the baby's bag while the father holds the baby to his chest. They have learnt and they dont want to be like their own fathers. Gone are the days fathers are seen as Draculas. Now they are more loving and actively involved in their children's lives |

Bola146: Maybe your father was useless..but mine was very responsible, available and useful.Growing up, it was my dad that was my lesson teacher. He would teach us how to do the assignments we got from school not my mom though she did her mothering duties well. My dad was very available and provided where he could. So don't make blanket statements that only applies to your shitty experience. Today I send money to my mon and dad not necessarily based on who did more..because they both did great. |

This is a typical example of what men go through in life. Out of practical love for you, you dad insisted that you not only finish your university but also to finish with good grades, do you know why? Because he knows that there are hardly jobs around, and since he believes you are intelligent, he wants you to seat your arse out and bring out those potentials in you. Rather than become that graduate that will be a role model to your younger ones, you have instead become a worker in a betting shop, which means you are also probably a gambler also, of course with the support of your mom. You see those players playing in the Nigerian leagues, many of them also thought they will be the next Ronaldo or Messi, but the chances are very low. Out of 20k young footballers, only about 100 eventually make it to the big stage, that was what the love of your father was guiding against. Also right now, the man is alive to pay your fees maybe because he has not retired. What of if something happens to his source of income and he is no longer able to pay your fees, just you would have lost an opportunity? Then you will become bitter against everybody. Just so you know, there is one Nigerian footballer that is a graduate, he recently got a job as a sporting director in Switzerland or so. If your destiny was really about football, nothing would have stopped you, you know how many of us when very young thought we were good footballers? I do not want to speak ill of your mom, but she should have stood by your dad and since she has a lot of influence on you, where your dad was forceful, she should have been more persuasive. gaftsoil: 1 Like |
