Lets not forget that some foreigners come here because they can get away with things that will land them in jail in ther country. e.g chinese - the kind of crimes they comit here they will be rxecuted if it were in china. shows we are not serious yet. |

You guys don't seem to get it, Nigerians missions abroad refuse foreigners visas everyday the same way they reject us. These foreigners see what we don't see and are willing to overstay here too because our embassies usually give three months.I am sure this new citizens will be so glad. |

SMH I think these new citizens should all be investigated I am sure their allegiance to Nigeria is not genuine and most take advantage of the system especially the Lebanese who are the most opportunists on earth they made fortune in Africa and their allegiance is either to Hezbollah or the Vatican and definitely not to Africa or Nigeria |

^ the people he granted citizenship most likely already live in Nigeria. maybe they need to do some business that required citizenship and requested it. there are thousands of people in Nigeria who are not citizens. but they live here doing business or whatever it is they are here for etc so if u are worried about population,the best thing u shld do is go to a family planning center and encourage ur friends to do d same. |

I think 15 years residency is very long. You don't have to wait that long in most western countries if you have been legal from day 1. Moreover, I see no reason why FEC has to approve it. The ministry of interior ought to be enough. Too much centralisation. But then again corruption too much. |

Papilo87:Go back and read your constitution. It is the responsibility of the president of the federation to confer certificate of citizenship by naturalization on any individual that has satisfied the requirements and provisions of the 1999 constitution. No offence. |

truth is that these foreigners are exploiters. there is no check and control on their businesses and activities in nigeria. for me, they are killing our economy and are mostly corrupt. mind you, i am speaking from experience cos i have worked with indians, Lebanese and philipinos. believe me, they are killing our economy. nigeria is a gold mine and these guys are exploiting it. |

cap28: Gbam. It's sad but who knows? it may be a blessing in disguise. I see Africa being the place where ppl go to get jobs and to expand in the future. Even if it takes another 50 or so years, it will happen. Too many ppl are 'sleeping' on Africa and the accomplishments. Perhaps this is a turning point. |

Araboy: Their allegiance cannot be hundred percent towards Nigeria, cos no where like home. Just like thousands of Nigerians are citizens of other nations and still like to invest in Nigeria. The truth is they have fulfilled the requirement so the FGN has to grant it to them if they expressed interest, I also think 15 years is too much, 5 years suffices in most EU countries. |
