Well, apart from the UI you mentioned; the app should be able to carry a particular class along, for the particular class, there should be a dashboard for the materials/texts for each course, including the course outlines materials, assignments and deadlines especially. (A former coursemate built a web app which really helped, as it can get difficult to keep track with documents shared on WhatsApp groups)
Then also the kind of ads too, some can make your app uninteresting to use when mobile data is ON

Yeah I built this app.
Funny enough I also started this project cos of the issues with the present Online Learning methods and the stress with learning on whatsapp groups.
