Hey guys. Those of us in
Germany already please help out wit
these questions.
1) Is it beta to get out devices b4
leaving Naija (Laptops, Smartphones)
2) Whats clothing like over dia? Are
we better off getting dem hia or ova
dia?
3) How far wit jobs dia? How easy/hard is it to get?

Thanks

Bros, According to one of our guys who is already in germany, Emeka..its advisable to buy your stuffs from Nigeria. Jeans and clothes are expensive. most especially phones and gadget. mind you, the prices will be in euros. also, go with alot of shoes cos according to him, there are no cobbler in germany. shoes and winter jacket are expensive as well. i think around 50-70 euros. so imagine spending 12,000 naira to buy a single jacket when u can get it for less at yaba or idumota.

Go with enough Garri and some food items as well. grin grin though i heard some kenyans inport stuffs that looks like Garri/semo.. its called griese or so.
you save cash if you like chicken and wine/beer, cos those are the cheapest food/drinks in germo. I also heard its better you go with an android phone so you can access your student portals easily.

As for Jobs, the first step is: do u speak german? it goes a long way to determine the kind of job you will get. also, which city are you gonna be staying. some cities are competitive and expensive like Berlin, Bremen, Dortmund and Stuttgart. you can get a good student job cos your visa allows that, but understanding deutsch is the key to getting a good one.

if not, u may end up getting a menial job, but it will be enough to sustain you. coupled with your blocked account cash which you can live on. 650 - 700 euros per month.

Watch ur spending. be mindful of pretty german ladies. grin grin cheesy cheesy (they like ice cream and chocolate, each cost as much as 20euros). if you are so conversative, you may be able to live on 200euros per month excluding accomodation.

My experience from the thread and mein brothers in germany..

please, our ogas may also contribute/correct me smiley smiley

Stay blessed..

Any peep that have blocked their account, how was the stuff? Did you use Euro domicilliary account because I am tired of chasing refrees like they're boss or something and besides GTB is not making it easier...

Nimakor, how far with your Sperrkonto? Any challenges?

beebee5000:

It's not all prog dat req. german lang., just like mine although there will be some weeks lang training b4 d prog. pls can u link me wt those Ife guys on d scholarship or are they on this forum?

Nimakor:
I think the problem of GPA conversion and equivalency has been profusely adressed. Since you are still on page 101, I say your verdit is not so currect.

DAAD scholarship has many red tapes.
As Beebee rightly said, the language of the courses is German, although I think some of the courses are english taught. Other hinderances include:
1. Limited number/specialty of programs.
2. Employment status/experience; usually should align with your MSc pursuit.
3. Sign to return after studies. etcetera.

do u mean my verdict is not current or correct pls? want to know better if u've got contrary info. yeah, i agree wt u about ur points 1-3 and dat is wat it is for every scholarship. I am a professional by d grace of God which is also in-line wt d course and so i'm hopeful to get it (if it's God's will). But do they really compel scholarship holder to return after studies? kindly give me ur reference cos i've searched and couldn't see such clause. however, no big deal coming back if it's required as i'll be able to make my fatherland better.
danke shon

Mein Bruder, I have not initiated the process. It is not as if I will meet up, my interview is on Monday. So, I do the transfer after the that...hopefully.

Certainly, I meant correct...my bad the spelling was not correct.lol
In respect to the DAAD scholarship, I only have one question for you: have you gone to the Embassy for authentication? If yes, you will have seen it...the terms and conditions.
If no, then wait until you have visited.
For the record, I never went there for it..the verification. I met a homie there once, he had to change his mind.
Nonetheless, I think it is very doable, and ofcourse winnable. Just do your bit.
Viel Erfog!

If you're taking about scholarships in Germany, in most cases, the essences of the scholarship is for them to educate you and you come back and implement whatever you have learnt over there in your home country @ least for one year. Some of them hv terms and condition.

Neir, my results never came out on time, and one is expected to make 2:1, and I had 2:2, it is straight forward wen you make 2:1, and you are below 30yrs of age, and also a recommendation frm your prof.

To educate ourselves a lil bit here, asking question is also part of research which could either be to establish what u know or get fresh knowledge. All d same thanks 4 ur contribution.
