Was jonathan the best option we are having on the ballot papers? Why were you guys sentimental and so blinded by ethnic orientation while voting? Until when there is holistic desire to change things for better, expect no sympathy from me to thieves. Okay answer this what on earth is GEJ doing with Tinubu(since tinubu is a criminal)? Is he working for the oppositions or Nigerians? |

Rhino.5dm: Jonathan WON and is now the PRESIDENT of NIGERIA, Buhari LOST and is now in his VILLAGE. Thats a fact! So even if you keep on asking questions until eternity, it would not change anything! |

Its a good call for the progress of the country. Many of us are just looking for a leader that will spend 4 years fighting and stepping on toes. In as much as we need Justis, equity and fairness, above all, we need progress. We need to stop fooling ourselves, these people are politicians. They call themselves names to gain a strong negotiating ground and that is what we are seeing now. No doubt CPC is still really bitter about the election, but so do some of us. But national interest should always come first. |
Re: Jonathan In Secret Talks With Tinubu by klas(m): 7:53am On Jun 02, 2011 |
Meetings with 'opposition' (a misnomer in presidential system) by the sitting presidents have always been the case since 1979. as bitter as 1979 contest was, Awo, Zik, Waziri andAminu Kano not only met with Shagari within 100 days of his assumption of duty, meetings were regularly held until 1982. Obj met with 'opposition' in 1999 even though AD boycotted the first meeting because Falae was in court. Contrary to the report quoted by the OP, the meeting was not bilateral between GEJ and Tinubu but multilateral involving all parties that won seats in the National assembly. ACN was represented by its National Chairman (Akande), Ngige, Tinubu and Akume. We may not so much value the office of the president in Nigeria, but in the US that we copy, the basic etiquette is that an invitation from the White House is not a request but almost a command that only may be a death in the family is considered a valid excuse for not honouring. GOP leaders still honour Obama invitation even though they dont agree on many policies. Below is the account of the meeting by the Guardian PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan yesterday held a consultative meeting with the leaders of major political parties in Nigeria, enlisting their support towards the implementation of his government’s transformation agenda. |

isleman: I agree with you 100% at bolded. When GEJ in March 2011 said the SW is too enlightened to be left in the hands of rascals, the media influenced by the ACN aparatchik shouted themselves hoarse. Tinubu said GEJ insulted SW leaders' parents. What he did not admit was that GEJ was even refined in copying his (Tinubu) earlier statement in October 2010. Former governor of Lagos State and a national leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Tuesday disclosed that he predicted the fall of the former Oyo State governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala in October last year. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/tinubu-i-predicted-alao-akala-s-fall/92417/ |

@poster, what make the meeting a secret talk with Tinubu? ode is he the only person that attend the meeting? mumu the meeting was cover by media house and press, so hater adjust ur heading, to ( Jonathan in open meeting with progressive and other political party leaders) @hater read this ,,,,, Opposition is not about axes, cutlasses and dane guns.” Tinubu noted that as political leaders interested in the growth and development of the nation, an invitation by the President to attend a meeting is in the right direction. He however assured that the ACN would continue to raise its voice in opposition to government decisions or policies that run contrary to the wishes and aspiration of the Nigerian people. |

igbo boy: I'm sure your anger is borne out of Jonathan's special regards for Tinubu which you wished should be given to one of your people.Anyways,I'm not in support of anything that has to do with a party that has done nothing for this country in the last 12 years,so Tinubu should watch out for the snakes in pdp including jonathan. |
Re: Jonathan In Secret Talks With Tinubu by maclatunji: 9:12am On Jun 02, 2011 |
The CPC spokesman, Rotimi Fashakin stated the his party did not attend the meeting because the invitation letter did not specify an agenda. For me that is fair enough, if you invite me to a meeting, you should at least let me know what we want to talk about. GEJ is very funny, I am watching the subterranean moves he is making at the moment to extend his tenure beyond the lawful 4-year limit. I am just amazed at the rate at which Nigerian leaders can continue to take the wrong decisions for this country. |

This is to all JEJ supporters on this forum. May God spare our lives until 2015. If by 2015, i take stock of events in my life by assessing the level of impact the government has made on my life and i discover that i am not better off or i discover that i am even worse off, I will curse everyone of you, your fathers, your mothers, your uncles, your children and all your relations for wasting another four years of my life. Making it 16 years of my life wasted by that rogue party called PDP. We had the opportunity to make a change but you sentimental and short sighted things went ahead and blew the opportunity. Once again, may God spare our lives, i dey look una and una JEJ. |

Tinubu na master planner. Booted PDP out of the south west and now they have to woo him and i bet he has more clout in Aso rock than many of the people who jumped on the PDP bandwagon. Back to the point, its good CPC didnt go for the meeting. They would have been gullible to go for a meeting whose agenda is unknown and the next morning you see all sorts of headlines in the press. Whatever GE Jones is doing ,it is only a matter of time before his house of lies begins to unravel. |

These politicians we read condemning themselves on the pages of newspapers speak with each other privately. Its all politics. I pity those who get carried away with what the politicians say. |

Why can't u all wait for a competent court to declare Tinubu guilty as a thief, criminal and cocaine pusher before GEJ can disassociate himself from him?. If Tinubu is the chairman of ACN and all opposition parties chairmen were invited, what do u suggest GEJ should do, ask Tinubu to send someone else?. Please let make constructive argument here. |
Re: Jonathan In Secret Talks With Tinubu by fadhill: 12:01pm On Jun 02, 2011 |
Some people are full of head devoid of reasoning. Why do you need to write before you think. If any of your people is relevant, I am sure GEJ will like to have a meeting with him/her. Enlist what makes Tinubu earn the appellation, criminal, you carcass head attributed to him. Why all the beef about the Yoruba you mumulity. I understand, may be SW success in rooting Poverty Development People (PDP) out of power. |

Bensonite:For your info Mr Benson & Hedges, i am employed. Gainfully employed for that matter. maybe after you don smoke benson abi na igbo, smoke don full your brain. Na why you come NL dey misyarn be dat. Since you have just proven to the whole world that you are dhaft and stooooooooopid not to understand my simple post, im a break it down for you. So here we go mr. stoooooopid: (1) I spend so much on fuelling my gen which would have been unneccessary if power were to be stable. So if by 2015, i still spend so much or even more on fuelling my gen, then JEJ and his silly supporters on NL will meet me here in 2015. (2) I spend so much on maintaining my car cos of the conditions of the road around my house and on the way to my office. I replace Shock absorbers, ball joints, bushings of my car every now and then. So if by 2015, i still spend so much or even more on maintaining these parts of my car, then JEJ and his silly supporters on NL will meet me here in 2015. (3) JEJ plans to increase electricity tariffs next january. If this happens, i will spend much more than i currently do on energy and because I aint working in the civil service, i dont expect a commensurate increment in my salary to cushion the effect of increased spending on power. The overall effect the increase in tariff will have on me is that i will have reduced disposable income. Many more examples abound but for the sake of my time, i will limit the examples to the ones above. I will advice you (i.d.iot) to beg the moderator to take down your post cos you just displayed your folly to the world to see. but i no blame you sha, NL na for gbogbo ero. |

Re: Jonathan In Secret Talks With Tinubu by fadhill: 12:20pm On Jun 02, 2011 |
While will you not for once release your sense from the confide of your feet. GEJ stated categorically that he can't possibly rule the country successfully without their input, ditto support. ak47mann, you may ask GEJ the need to invite and have a secret meeting with the leader of whom he perceived a rascal to rebuild Nigeria. Well, NL harbour different vigour of species. |

dayokanu: He can't survive what? I mean what exactly is the purpose Tinubu is to serve in this government? The man is not even an elected leader of any kind but the sitting president is giving him so much power and we are happy for this why? This is what is wrong with our democracy, we have too many God fathers, and apparently, a president who feels, rather than approaching the people directly, making deals with Godfathers is the way to go. |

Jonathan has started to reveal the REAL PDP poison in him. This should not be a surprised to those of us who saw it long before the elections. Remember, the Opposition parties and Tinubu contributed to the success of Jonathan at the pools. He must find a way to compensate them for their support. Very soon, you start to see brief cases with a any visitor Aso Rock. Mark my word. See the happenings before the election and you will know that, Jonathan, Tinubu all Oppositions political parties except CPC are the same. http://www.leadershipeditors.com/ns/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=28788:jonathan-in-secret-meeting-with-tinubu-others&catid=51:cover-stories&Itemid=142 http://thewillnigeria.com/politics/8206-Presidential-Politics-Jonathan-Secret-Talks-With-Tinubu-Fashola.html http://nigerianpilot.com/?q=content/6-presidential-candidates-step-down-jonathan-46-opposition-parties-confirm-endorsement http://panafricannews..com/2011/04/nigerian-pdp-opposition-parties.html |
