What's the non-oil revenue during OBJ compare to today? How many locally made goods are in market during those period? Why is electricity, railway, roads not in other then? How many Aircrafts or military equipment do we purchase for unforeseen circumstances?. How many of of our bugget going into fighting insurgency then? hisexcellency34:Can you evaluate the real cost of living to the value of each currency in eachcountry? What can you get in Nigeria with NGN780 viź a viź how much such item costs in the country the alternate currency is in use. Example how many bottles of coke can you buy in Nigeria for NGN780, approximately 5. How much is a bottle of coke in the UK? Definitely it's above 1pound. |

chikason22: He is obviously shifting the blame of the uselessness of Naira on UK Pounds either deliberately or just ignorantly... Is it the fault of Pound that it remains One pound in the UK then turns to 750 Naira in Nigeria?? To make it simple to him...another Nation's money is a big money in Nigeria while same money maintains it value in it's country...may be he would get it that way 1 Like |

Stop believing rubbish, you have just been fooled by your imaginary friend. Even the pounds we are talking about, what can you use one pound to buy in UK? We all know what we can buy with #780. Devaluation of naira should be a blessing to us, but we are too lazy to work on the advantages. Devaluation of naira is more profitable to diasporians. [/quote] O boy 1 pound make sense here for where I dey ooo. O body fit dash you one pound imagine you put one pound for trolley as you pack am people dey collect am back. With one pound I buy coke, local chips, chocolate even use am bet. Hardly you go see person give 1pound to beggers. Na Nigeria's dey give them money cos there pastors, inmam say make dey give beggers. |

stayclearofme:There is a huge export operation going on just that people don't know if you are not in the field. Do you know eg my paddy takes orders for supermarket chains, for corner shops owned by Pakistanis, by jews, they brand them locally here in naija, eg hammads, or Joey's cassava flakes(using garri as example). From phone call to the market here in naija the garri is supplied, the packaging people pack it and the shipper picks it up for export to the ports. So many others from around the world are doing same from Nigeria. Go to any major drinks depot and you will see them loading drinks for export. Years back in Dublin I hear Nigerian Stout was the highest seller. We export but could do more. Cocoa, cashew, timber, cassava, millet, we export. Recently I learnt ships, aircraft's prefer to leave naija empty because the stress, curruption is just too much, it does not make business sense to them. A ship will bring goods to naija and go back empty refusing to carry goods! That is part of the mismanagement I spoke about. |

SlyDev: You have spoken like an average Nigerian who like suffering. Closing your border is the last step to self sufficiency. First of all you need to make sure there is enabling environment first in your country and all the requirements for production have been made available before you close borders. Things like Electricity, security and enabling tax scheme. We all know these things aren't available. Farmers cannot go to farm any longer because of bandits and herdsmen. So we are not even producing food at the moment. Then the Government blocked the borders where we would have gotten alternatives. Even the US doesn't completely block it's borders. If a quality item is produced cheaper in Nigeria people will have no reason to buy the foreign alternative and it's importers will stop importing it. As an economist I know this for sure and more. 3 Likes |

Hero10001:You no sabi common comparison. Before 1 naira was equivalent to 2pounds. Then naira was stronger. Now a pounds is now 780 naira. U no still understand. So with one million pounds I can do construction of over head bridge and build 200 km of road. With 1million pound I can build a rail from Lagos to Ilorin can't you get it. |
