La Liga, since first Galactico project has enjoyed their top popularity because Barcelona signed Ronaldinho, and Ronaldo and Messi's rivalry. The league heavily dependent on player's popularity, and if the league fails to attract global talent, the league's popularity will go down. And this is what is happening to La Liga. La Liga is still quality as usual in terms of pitch performance. Teams like Valladolid, Villarreal, Getafe and Granada employ technical football, also, Spanish teams tend to do well in European competitions. The league's parity is towards Barcelona and Real Madrid, the two Classicos generate hundreds of million viewers annually. Also, the media exposure of Ronaldo and Messi, and their star-studded teammates give excitement to football citizens around the world at the cost of the rest of the league. Barcelona and Real Madrid unrivalled domination remains unchallenged even by Atletico Madrid. Atletico Madrid's players are good, but they play unattractive football, they lack Galactico thing glued in Real and Barcelona. Their fanbase is not as popular as the aforementioned teams. The lost of Cristiano Ronaldo from the league means lesser exposure from him. Ronaldo is way more marketable than Messi, his English fluency helps, and that is one thing often overlooked by many people. His English literally helps him to connect with the fans through social media. Also, his extroverted nature draws massive attention to La Liga. Leonel Messi is also marketable, but Messi is an introverted person, he is shy, and always move away from the media attention. His English is less good than Ronaldo. But his talent draws more attention to La Liga. The global pandemic also joined the party, it exposed the financial problem of Barcelona and Real Madrid, both lost match day revenue, and FC Barcelona has more than €1.4 billion to pay their creditors as the result of their irresponsible transfers, no wonder Barcelona and Real Madrid are the loyal supporter of European Super League, because their financial mayhem might be worse than what depicted by the media. In short, La Liga's popularity plummets due to Barcelona and Real Madrid decline as a team, even Atletico itself still not convincing enough to carry the league's misfortune. 1 Like
