I have been working as a pharmacist for over 20 years now. During that time, I have bought many different types of shoes to wear at work.

But let's face it, there are just some jobs where you need the right footwear for Pharmacists in order to feel comfortable or even be safe throughout your shift. When I started out working as a staff pharmacist, all I had to do was manage the dispensary so my safety wasn't really an issue. But if you are on your feet everyday and spending 8+ hours standing up on hard surfaces...comfort becomes more of an issue. Of course choosing shoes that are stylish enough is important too but overall comfort should come first before any other consideration! So without ado here are some key things to look for in work shoes for pharmacists:

Cushioning & shock absorption. Usually easy to tell with even the most casual glance at the shoe, these are very important features to look for when choosing your pharmacist shoes.

Heel height . Depending on your pharmacy position this could be crucial. Being on your feet all day puts great strain on your body, especially your feet and back! The higher the heel of the shoe you choose, the less impact it is likely to have on your lower limbs/body. I know some individuals prefer a flatter (and therefore less cushioned) shoe which results in more responsive movement closer to the ground but overall you will just feel better if you choose a higher heel option
