A British backpacker suffered serious wounds when a crocodile confined her in a death roll – before a heroic pal saved her by striking with the fist the 10ft reptile, it is asserted.
Amelie Osborn-Smith, 18, was white water rafting in Zambia when the alarming attack took place in the Zambezi River.
The teenager, who was travelling in the course of her gap year, was carried by air for lifesaving surgery, it is declared.
Brent Osborn-Smith, Amelie’s father, 60, said that she was sitting on the edge of a boat when the animal pounced on her.
