The Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, Biodun Oyebanji, has tendered his resignation, just as he revealed his ambition to contest in the coming governorship election in the state. Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ekiti State, Yinka Oyebode disclosed this on Friday in a statement titled ‘Ekiti SSG Oyebanji Resigns From Cabinet.’ The statement read, “Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has accepted the resignation of Secretary to the State Government, Hon Biodun Oyebanji, from his cabinet. “The resignation which was conveyed in a letter to the Governor, dated December 3, 2021, takes effect from Tuesday, December 7th. “Oyebanji had cited his decision to contest the forthcoming governorship election in the State for his resignation as Secretary to the State Government. “Governor Fayemi in accepting Oyebanji’s resignation, thanked the former SSG for his remarkable contribution to the administration since inception in 2018 and wished him well in his future endeavours.” NAN

fergie001: Wale Fapounda was Fayemi’s candidate. However, the First Lady preferred Oyebanji. She was also able to win Niyi Adebayo to her side so Fayemi had no choice than to drop Wale and support him. The former SSG played his cards well by winning over the First Lady. I was rooting for Wale but he did not play his cards well at all. Sometimes, it is not just enough to win the governor to your side, you need to win the support of the influential people around the governor. 1 Like |

fergie001: So many people including party members and traditional rulers moved against him. It is not enough to be brilliant, a governorship material must be able to relate well with all stakeholders and also accessible. Apart from not relating well with party members, he was inaccessible to so many prominent Ekiti people. Efforts were made to point out some of these lapses to him but he felt he had the support of the governor who will call every other person to order at the right time. Sadly, things didn’t turn out as he envisaged. |
