The only condition that might lead to this type of scenario inside this video is that: the lady is the sole provider in the relationship, and the guy is still hoping to plead with her later so that they can continue with the relationship (thus, the reason why he was still playing cool amidst the flogging).
Because if he himself considered the relationship over after the first few floggings, he would have shown some form of struggle - at least to get himself out of that torturous space.
