it's a matter of perspective. Just take the shot of the dog at close range with a wide angle lens, with the background very visible, not fishes eye or vagnette, since it makes it obvious. A wide angle lens makes sizes increase almost ten fold as they get closer. Just bring one ekuke dog in your area, lemme take a pix with it standing by your side with two meter distance separating you and it. You will be surprised. U make me laff

The fear goes when you buy a dog. Since you're not experienced with dogs start with a puppy. Since i bought mine (a puppy), i stopped fearing dogs, no matter how big it is. I can touch anydog anyday on anywhere, provided i touched mine beforehand. Dogs can identify dog owners. If it barks at you as a dog owners,it means it hasn't perceived you're scent yet. Instead of being scared i usually come closer.
