Good morning, everyone. I have a nephew born in the UK to Nigerian parents with temporary resident status. He was born, less than 2 years ago and he doesn't have a Nigerian passport yet, just his birth certificate. Now, I'm in the process of applying for my parents visit visa for my brother's graduation, and I also included in their cover letter that they're excited to meet their grandson for the first time. However, in the application form, there's a section that request for the passport number of people/family members that you know in the UK. Please, how can I sort out that part since my nephew doesn't have a Nigerian passport yet? I'll greatly appreciate your advice. |

kksamm: Put everyone else. Your nephew is a minor and I'm not sure leaving him out of the form will cause any major issue for you. If you are still worried about it, just state it in the additional information section. State that he is a baby and does not have a passport. I hope this helps. Good luck! |

For those that fill on their visa application forms they are not travelling with their spouse or kids… when they get visas, they decide to do ‘different’ and opposite of what they said… see this refusal a friend just received.. Maybe take things like this into consideration before changing plans in view of ‘sharpness’ Also always provide an explanation why you have suddenly decided to change plans. You must address this bit. 4 Likes

giselle237: I'm just wondering how they were able to connect both applications. Was there a caught somewhere in between the application documents uploaded? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by giselle237: 1:21pm On Aug 16 |
MrSoftlife:What was filled on the visa forms for the woman and children all tallied eg names and passport numbers + supporting documents tallied. It is not hard to connect. 1 Like |

A fam member's mom just got refused. He's sponsoring the mother with £2,500. He also attached his payslip, bank statements, BRP, and lease documents. For the mom, they included pictures with son, her passport, husband's consent letter, and a valid 5-year Canada Visit Visa. Her bank statement wasn't submitted. Under her employment section, they picked RETIRED since she's currently not working, although running a small shop in their home with no business account. She has never worked in a corporate organization and currently being supported by the children. Note: The visit duration stated is 1 month but the ECO mistakenly wrote 1 month 29 days. Please what's the best way to tackle this? She's a first time applicant. Thank you!

giselle237: My colleague's husband also had his visa denied because his wife (my colleague) has a 2 year visa running. 2 years visa she got in 2022... |

@klexycole what was the reason why the bank statement was not submitted? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Cashmadam: 3:24pm On Aug 16 |
giselle237: This is because many people have used this "sharp move" to "scam" them... However, for frequent travellers, this is highly unlikely to happen... |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by klexycole(m): 3:43pm On Aug 16 |
giselle237: The sponsor felt the €2.5k he committed was enough. By the way, he never submitted bank statements for his mother-in-law and the visa was granted in a week (standard). |

@ cashmadam @giselle237 Thanks so much for your input. I also advised the same thing regarding the employment status. However, here are his concerns: 1. Can they change the employment status (from retired to self-employed) without the issue of misrepresentation? 2. If the applicant claims self-employed, can they submit only her personal account (most inflows are from the children) since she doesn't have a business account for the small shop? 3. Can a cooperative society membership be used as a social tie? Really appreciate your response. |

klexycole:Ofcourse. Another ‘sharp’ move. I knew they had tried this before and because they escaped then they felt they would do it again after all. No 2 applications are same. Please never underestimate them. Well let the sponsor make an official complaint as there was an error in the refusal letter, no harm in trying to get this visa based on the technical error now. It’s the applicant’s luck. 1 Like |

Phraences: It is sort of a good protection so that one party will not be able to take away a child without the knowledge of the other party. Child custody issue can be tricky. If you do not have sole custody, why will you want to travel with a child without the knowledge of the biological father or mother?? 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello House, How can I go about this thing about high hotel accommodation in London city when I have indicated locations in London as places of interest for a tourist visa. Can one book reservations outside London in places like Oxford? Else, is it alright to book in a dormitory? I plead for advise. |

Good evening, everyone. I need clarification on whether it's mandatory to get married at the Ikoyi Registry. I came across some information suggesting that only certificates issued by Ikoyi Registry are recognized and accepted by embassies. Can someone confirm if this is true? Thank you. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Oggg: 5:40pm On Aug 17 |
Amedak:Very false. Very wrong information. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Amedak(m): 5:46pm On Aug 17 |
Oggg: So, you mean someone can get married at any marriage registry in Nigeria? Thank you. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by davodyguy: 10:10pm On Aug 17 |
Amedak:Ikoyi is a federal marriage registry. Any other marriage registry in Lagos are state or Local government registry. Reason why almost every one marrying comes down to Ikoyi. I don't know if that if embassy rejection is through, but I just stared the difference between Ikoyi and other marriage registries https://ecitibiz.interior.gov.ng/marriage/registries There are only 7 Federal Marriage Registries in Nigeria |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by giselle237: 5:04am On Aug 18 |
Amedak:Please you can marry at any registry- state or local govt. UK/USA accepts all documents. I repeat, all are accepted by embassies as long as genuine including islamic marriage certificates and church certificates… even traditional and customary certificates. Do not be a bearer of false information as well. My family members and family members of lots of people are in the UK with their spouses and none of them wedded at Ikoyi, talk less of outside their local registry jurisdictions. This is absurd. 2 Likes |

Good morning. Please, I made an omission in my application under "Income and Expenditure"- "Do you have another income or Savings?" Mistakenly, i didn’t tick that I have Savings. However, I uploaded my savings bank statement with good balance. I've already submitted the application form and finally uploaded all documents. What's your advice, please? |
