Good evening, everyone.

I need clarification on whether it's mandatory to get married at the Ikoyi Registry. I came across some information suggesting that only certificates issued by Ikoyi Registry are recognized and accepted by embassies. Can someone confirm if this is true?

Thank you.

Disregard that information because it’s a big lie

Or is it possible to write with a pen a small note (to that effect) on the document checklist. Perhaps below "Evidence of Funds"? My biometrics appointment is still upcoming.

Then do a cover letter to explain and pay to have it uploaded. It will cost you extra but better to pay that then risk not getting the visa.

Hi @Cashmadam , I have a question regarding bank statement if you can help. I get paid via Deel and then I withdraw a minimum of $500 (usually 500-700) to my bank account. However, my opening balance is 9.5m (because I was initially withdrawing $1k into my account until the end of last year), closing balance is 1.6m and monthly spend is around 1.5m. How do I explain this in my additional info?

First, how can your monthly spend be N1.5Million? What do you buy every month? If you are servicing a loan or using your money for a capital project, then you need to explain that and estimate how much you really spend each month on living expenses. This figure is a big red flag.

Oh okay, thank you for that. I was adding cost of capital projects to the total estimated monthly living expense.

No, don't add that. Your monthly living expenses are cost of rent, electricity, food etc.

So, remove the money you spend on project or repayment of loans.

What is this new style of not uploading people’s bank statements? I am yet to understand it. It is even worse you mentioned that she would contribute £500 to the trip. That is minimum 1 million naira
So how was the ECO going to assess this situation?

Sorry about the refusal.

Mistake on your part. Next time, add your Mum's statement of account. She claimed she has savings and will contribute to the cost of the trip. How will the visa officer know she has the money when you did not attach her statement of account? This issue has been discussed extensively...

If her account is looking good with no huge deposits, you can reapply as soon as you are ready.

Good afternoon everyone,

Please, I booked a tls contact appointment both for my dad and mum yesterday but haven't gotten an appointment confirmation email for my dad, yet. I booked the appointments differently with flexi option (with same date and time) and paid for each of them and was debited immediately after initiating payments. However, I received an appointment email for my mum the moment I paid but haven't received an email for my dad. I used different emails for their applications. I can see the scheduled appointment on both dad and mum's TLS profile, but I haven't received the email for dad. I understand that the appointment confirmation email is to be printed and shown before biometrics on the appointment date. Please, has anyone been in this kind of situation before? What steps did you take?

I have submitted a complaint form already but do not know how soon they'll respond as their appointment is at the corner. Do they have a contact number?

My mum visit visa was refused today, they stated that there were some unexplained deposits into her account. We used her salary account and the only unexplained fund was a sum of 200k paid into her account through POS. She is a teacher and earns 310k per month, all showing in her bank statements. Will you advise we reapply?

Please help with feedback on this

NwunyeAlberta:
Hello All,

Please I need advice.

In April, I submitted a 6-month visitor visa application for my husband and our two children to visit the UK during the June half-term. I currently hold a valid 2-year visitor visa myself. The purpose of the trip was for family bonding and sightseeing at various tourist attractions

The visa was refused on this ground:
1. To demonstrate your financial circumstances, you have provided your personal bank statement in your name from GTCO Bank. I note a large deposit of 4,228,042.31 NGN and which is significantly greater than your monthly salary has inflated this account. The source of these funds is unknown, and you have provided no explanation for this. This large unexplained credit is not in line with your stated monthly income and consequently damages the credibility of your application. I am therefore not satisfied you have given an accurate reflection of your current financial circumstances and that the funds remain exclusively available to you.

This deposit was a combination of my husband's monthly salary and a refund for National Housing Fund deduction, both paid together by his employer. I explicitly explained this in the cover letter, and it was also clearly documented on the submitted payslip. It appears that the visa officer did not consider either the cover letter or the payslip during the review process. It's annoying because I was careful to explain in the cover letter. Is there anything that can be done?

@cashmadam

So sorry about the refusal. I hope she has time to reapply before the wedding.

I suggest she reapplies and explain the source of every single deposit into her account (I hope they are not too many).

I hope she has substantial savings in her account - this is very important (regardless of her son's sponsorship)

In addition, she should prove her ties to Nigeria - family, religious and employment ties work. A cover letter might help.

Good luck!

Sorry about the refusal. I suggest he reapplies. If he can, he should print his bank statement in such a way that it does not show the deposit in question.

It is a bit strange. NHF refund should ordinarily not be lumped together with monthly salary. Well, it is what it is.

I suggest he applies for holiday over Christmas. Summer is almost over and I assume your children will be back in school in September. You did not state if your children got their visas.

It is not mandatory. If you have any important information that can add value to your application, then you can put it in that section. Otherwise, leave it blank.

Please when did she go for biometrics

[quote author=klexycole post=131536601]A fam member's mom just got refused. He's sponsoring the mother with £2,500. He also attached his payslip, bank statements, BRP, and lease documents.

For the mom, they included pictures with son, her passport, husband's consent letter, and a valid 5-year Canada Visit Visa. Her bank statement wasn't submitted.

Under her employment section, they picked RETIRED since she's currently not working, although running a small shop in their home with no business account. She has never worked in a corporate organization and currently being supported by the children.

Note: The visit duration stated is 1 month but the ECO mistakenly wrote 1 month 29 days.

Please what's the best way to tackle this? She's a first time applicant. Thank you!

You cannot predict.

However, Ikeja is cheaper than VI. You will be required to pay extra fees if you choose VI.
