OBHS is a Kwara state government school . The Kwara state government is responsible for everything from paying the staffs and running the school just that it was established by the missionaries like 50 years ago. Let's even agree it's a Christian school, what happens to allowing Muslim practice their religion? Ansarudeen college ,Naiwarudeen Grammar school etc all in Kwara (all Government school but established by those Islamic Organisations) all allow Christians wear berets . They don't force them to Jumaat prayers like they do in OBHS. All these are not needed as this is where our morals are formed. We can't keep complaining we are being divided along religion and ethnic lines of we're not ready to accept each other.

Jaiz bank is an Islamic bank ( Muslim bank per sae) in Nigeria that wouldn't open account for a non Muslim talk less of granting them loan facilities.

every school has its own laws which a student must abide to. ranging from hair styles, sandals & sucks colour. imagine a student going to school bare footed because he is a member of a white garment church, to a school that mandated the use of sandals as its dress code!!!

its only when we choose to keep religion aside that we can grow as a nation. just like NYSC, MILITARY e.t.c having a dress code of wearing trousers regardless of your religion!!!.

But in states such as Kano, hijab is compulsory for all females - Government and Islamic schools.

Where did you get this information from? Jaiz will not open account for Christians? This is untrue, please stop misleading Nigerians

Will you also allow children of Traditional Worshippers to wear their religious garbs to school? Because if you don't then you are being discriminatory?

The Army and Police should also allow rank and file and officers to wear long beards because it is religious.

There would then be no need to have order and regulations for institutions and establishments because religion supersedes all. Isn't that the kind of world anarchy you want?

When we have religious bigots and educated illiterate elites as leaders, there would always be problem because they will set up the poor masses against themselves.

The question is why is this hijab becoming issue now? These schools have been in existence for a while and have their uniforms or dressing code with female students using berets. Berets are neither Christians scarves nor Muslim hijabs. It's not good that the government is forcing these schools to change their dress codes; before we know it, trousers will be introduced for females in these schools.

I think the executive should approach the house of assembly to pass a bill to this effect (that Christian should do away with berets and change to hijab and scarves) instead of pretex and formenting trouble here and there in the name of religion. Government in Kwara should be concerned more about good delivery of governance to the people rather than causing religious crisis.

There is a standard uniform for every school… imagine if nudists decided to send their kids to such school.. will you allow them practice their faith too? Some of those ABU lecturers are not as backward as you guys. I have supervised Diploma students exams in ABU.
Some female students dressed like ninjas were waiting for exams and their lecturers came in and told them to remove those stuff. Sometimes, they even complain about excessive long hijabs.
One of my lecturer had even said it during a lecture that he will never allow his wife to cover her face while going out of the house except if he is going out with her. He said, this will allow his friends know his wife anywhere in case she is found doing some marriage unfaithful things.

Na una wey never go anywhere go dey carry religion for head. Abeg getat.

As a Christian who live and reside in kwara state, we should all work together to make kwara great and Nigeria at large. However the situation here in kwara state is daunting.

My concern is not about the Muslim student hijab right or not but, 'can they tolerate it as well'. We have some Islamic public school here in kwara state that compel their non Muslim student to put on hijab. How do you judge that? May God bless us all

There are so so many islamiah skls in Lagos.. infact I attended one ND there we were forced to pray the Islam prayers ....

My parents never cared about what the skl is doing... They just kept reminding us who we are.. if u can't tolerate their standard, go to another skl

You don’t understand the issue on ground. It’s not about religious tolerance, it’s about hijab not been part of the School uniform…Anything apart from what is inside the school prospectus is not acceptable..They should stop this rigorous victimization game they are playing……
