Please I dont proof read and I am not a good writer, so focus on the message and leave the messenger.

So today, I was in my shop( a grocery store) and a man came to buy some groceries, everything he bought was N15k but he wanted to pay through POS and also withdraw some cash.
He decided to withdraw N70k which normally I charge N100 service charge per 10k withdrawal,
Though every one along that vicinity charge N200 per 10k withdrawal and the man thought I charge thesame amount, he told me not to add the charge with the money so I withdrew his 70k and he had to pay me my 15k and also gave me N1,500 to give him N100 balance cos he felt the charge was N1400.
I had to give him back the money and honestly told him I charge N700, he was perplexed and asked if I was a Muslim that only Muslims are transparent lolz in Nigeria, I politely told him I am not a Muslim.
But then It got me thinking that with all the churches on Nigerian street, the average christian is thought to be someone who could easily fraud a naive person, can't we at least make the religion look more Christ-like?
Must it always be this vicious stereotyping in Christianity? Back in the 90's, as a christian kid. I grew up with so much stories with the mentality that there is a horror repercussions to a sinful act, though most of those stories are false but it did give me some morals and decorum.

What then are we really learning in today's church?

Please don't go around with such ideology. That's just the man's opinion.

Be wise

It has nothing to do with being a Muslim.

Not to hype Northerners and Arab, but this two are honest to a fault... That's why we jokingly call them Abokii where I come from

It has nothing to do with being a Muslim.

It has everything to do with being a Muslim....

Islam not only forbids rippers and scammers, it places heavy curse, and severe punishment for such behaviour

So just imagine a man who had memorised Quran word for word, and also recites it 4 times a day during prayers now engaging in what he just read it's punishment and curse attached to it

Your churches do not have their foundation that is Jesus Christ so they should not be expected to be like that which they are not of. undecided

Those lies you speak of, from your childhood, were fed to you by your Pastors and Mogs as way of keeping your mind controlled so you can continue to enrichen their kingdoms here on earth. undecided

Nothing they feed you in their churches will get you anywhere closer to Jesus Christ... Jesus Christ said this Himself. undecided

As to the claim that Muslims don't extort folks, I have never heard that joke before. undecided

I didnt grow up going in churches that make me enrich kingdom, I dont know when u were born but back in the late 90's, u will hardly see any pastor that emphasizes so much on tithe and first fruit.

Also that thing about muslim not extorting folks is false but most of them are transparent, I personally will buy something from the Hausa man in my street than buy it from any other person, their prices is fair and they won't bring up the price if they feel u are a novice

1. First fruit ke? As far back as the 70s, they were enriching themselves with your tithes and offerings. First fruits, vows and other gimmicks came in as competition grew and grew. undecided

2. I don't know much about what you mean of Hausa's being transparent. undecided

Criminals are prevalent in all walks of life - Christians, Moslems, Africans, Europeans, Amongst the poor, The Wealthy - everywhere.

Honest people are also prevalent in all walks of life. Nigerians especially tend to be given a bad name but there are honest Nigerians out there.

Don't let the man's opinion taint you.

True christians live holy life and emulate the sinless life of Christ not because we fear any curse or believe in any possible suffering after death (Hell Fire is man-made, the bible didn't teach it), but we fully obey Jehovah God and His Christ out of love and free will not compulsion by placing curses.

There are benefits.

We will live on this earth forever even if we die.

When Jesus comes back, he will restore peace and justice to the world and fufill all his Father's will for the earth.

There will be a new world free of evil, death, pain, suffering, sickness, struggle and Jehovah God Himself will rule it.
