Russia turns to trucks and big wages to woo volunteer soldiers. In the Russian city of Rostov, soldiers in camouflage and black masks show their guns to interested passersby and handed out colour brochures titled 'Military service on a contract - the choice of a real man. Neither Russia nor Ukraine discloses their military losses, which Western intelligence agencies estimate at tens of thousands on both sides. The Kremlin said last week there was no discussion of a nationwide mobilisation to bolster its forces. But the recruitment drive shows Moscow needs more men. The officer in charge of the Rostov truck said Russians and foreigners aged from 18 to 60 with at least a high school education would be eligible. Ibrahimcoomasie: The amount of soldiers deployed by Russia to Ukraine is very small. They obviously need more soldiers if they have to meet up with their goals cos the more they move further, the more soldiers they would need to hold territories and also form a strong defensive line. They have done well with the little forces committed to the operation right now but to totally achieve their objectives, they definitely would need more men. During the kharviv counter offensive, they had 12 Ukrainian soldiers to a Russian soldier cos the Ukrainians came with a 30k army against just a few Russian police and Donbass militia men. Russia Deploys Iranian Attack Drones, Ukrainian Military Says A new and frighteningly effective weapon has appeared in the war on the Russian side: Iranian-made attack drones. Russia and Iran never acknowledged striking a deal for the Shahed-136 attack drones, but a senior Ukrainian military official said remnants were discovered on the ground during the counteroffensive that Kyiv began in the northeast earlier this month. The powerful weapon is a so-called kamikaze drone carrying a warhead of about 80 pounds. Its appearance in Ukraine is the first time it has been deployed outside the Middle East. In its first use in Ukraine, the Iranian drone blew up an American-supplied M777 howitzer used by the Ukrainian military, Colonel Rodion Kulagin, the commander of artillery operations in the Kharkiv counteroffensive, said in an interview. EU moves to cut $7.5bn funding for Hungary over corruption. “It’s about breaches of the rule of law compromising the use and management of EU funds,” said EU Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn. “We cannot conclude that the EU budget is sufficiently protected.” He highlighted systemic irregularities in Hungary’s public procurement laws, insufficient safeguards against conflicts of interest, weaknesses in effective prosecution and shortcomings in other anti-graft measures. A young guy who returned from work from Poland was handed a summons right at the border with Ukraine and sent to the front line. He advises all male Ukrainians who are abroad to be there and not return to the country.

Russian nuclear-powered submarines fired cruise missiles in the Arctic on Friday as part of military drills designed to test Moscow's readiness for a possible conflict in its icy northern waters, the defence ministry said. The drills, named Umka-2022, took place in the Chukchi Sea, an eastern stretch of the Arctic Ocean that separates Russia from the U.S. state of Alaska.
