Fiscus105: bad belle was the reason Oshibunjo overrided the contract. cos it doesnt matter if the company was a one man company, the question was if they were competent. the BPE gave them a clean bill and that was all that was required. over sabi-sabi and bad belle was the only reason for Oshibunjo refusal to accede to the contract. 2 Likes 1 Share |

I thought they said there were strong hints that the attack was going to happen. Why didn't they take proactive measures then? If they didn't then, what makes them think they will if surveillance is installed? Lol. A typical case of addressing a problem without checking the root. Foolishness at its peak. Bandits have been attacking the whole nation apart from the railway. Instead of their darling daddy to face the problem head on, he is focusing on railway. 1 Like |

Truthisunique2: We are not even talking about facing terrorist here. The surveillance system dictates broken rail lines and the train stops 10 km to the spot. |

This is an administration simply groping in the dark like a drunken sailor. The adage says "look before you leap", but in this Bubulized administration it is the exact opposite: "leap before you look". "Joro jara joro" government! |

Both Osibanjo and Buhari are to be blamed for this tragedy. As the president, Buhari should be made aware of FEC decisions, especially in situations where he is still the president. Traveling abroad is not an excuse worthy of mentioning, in situations of this nature. If decisions have been taken that contravene the inner convictions of Buhari, such issues can be looked at again, in future FEC meetings. So while Osibanjo is neck deep in this tragedy, as he was the person that presided over a meeting where pointless concerns were being raised about the brand of equipment (a technical concern that should be handled by BPP) in spite of the fact that the contract proposal also had BPP certification. Buhari gets the lion share of blame though, as the head of this incompetent bunch 2 Likes 1 Share |

Truthisunique2: Yes Buhari no dey use Amaechi request play and the same request was easily discarded with Osinbajo's left hand. He took Amaechi and cohort desperate act of killing innocent people to justify the contract and leave Buhari with no choice than to conceed. Indeed Buhari no dey use Amaechi request play. 1 Like |

Truthisunique2:Really? The buhari government didn't think installing security gadgets to safeguard the trains passing through one of the deadliest locations in Nigeria was a top priority? No wonder people think that government has a hand in the subsisting terror! So why the outburst from Amaechi at the attack scene over the non approval of his proposal for security gadgets for the trains? I hope Amaechi and his boys are compensating you for standing truth on the head in his defense. 1 Like |

Kilometres:osinbajo only had opportunity to throw the request because buhari was not around The mere commissioner was playing politics because even approving the request would be another feather to the glorious cap amaechi is wearing (no be him wan use him hand give him rival for president that leverage) Shebi na amaechi also told the bandits to go invade the airport and pursue all the airlines from coming in? Sometimes you need to engage your brain |

Efezik007: This shows Osinbajo will make a good President. He is not like Buhari that you can manipulate or deceive with bogus write ups. Apparently Osinbajo checks details. What if BPP was compromise? Because they ought to check those details but obviously they didn't 2 Likes |

CharlotteFlair:let's be rational here, this is buhari that doesn't take anything serious even terrorists in his state This is amaechi that took time to propose surveillance because he already knew how deadly the route can be Buhari came back there is no way he didn't see the minutes of what happened at the FEC when he was away, he didn't bring back the issue because he doesn't take anything serious. Is there anyone that is really surprised that bandits can attack rail when they control highways? Amaechi didn't do outburst as you put it he only said this was what he envisaged when he talked about surveillance If na loot how much is the #3billion for someone that have presided over multi billion dollar rail project Let's be rational here |

Please stop mentioning Osibanjo name because the request was rejected by FEC meeting and the Chairman of FEC is Buhari who must take responsibility even when absent at meetings Truthisunique2: |

Re: Train Attacks: Buhari Approves Railway Surveillance Contract by nonxo007(m): 9:08am On Apr 08, 2022 |
Nbotee:He rejected it while presiding over the fec meeting, his reason being that the contractor the project was being offered to was a family where the father, mother and child are the board of directors. Secondly they have never carried out any project that is close to the proposed amount. Finally the contractor or contracting firm has never undertaken any project on surveillance or security related. The above are the reason Osibanjo denied the approval of the project. |

Re: Train Attacks: Buhari Approves Railway Surveillance Contract by Litmus: 9:25am On Apr 08, 2022 |
These Train Lines also require clear spaces on either side and interlinked fencing or barriers (attractive ones) that run parallel. You need to place as much obstacle as possible in front of those hellbent on maiming, killing and destroying infrastructure through terrorists acts . Having heard a minister or one of the railway employee interviewed after the terrorists attack mention that the train often mowed down cattle loitering on the line, I've come to believe that consideration for cattle headers and locals wanting to cross these train lines and not cost consideration are possibly the mitigating factors why fencing is not on the ground. But if we want modernity as well as the health and safety considerations that are part of modernity, we need to make these difficult choices. The modern state is not sentimental. Anyway, the intended suvaylance system need to cover all lines and not just the Kaduna section. |

nonxo007:leave Matta jare, My dad used to do contracts back in the days for local government, as a small startup he didn't have the capacity and history that his pairs would have simply because those ones have been opportuned to roll with numerous politicians to get contract history When my dad started getting his friends as chairmen it didn't mean he didn't have capacity he still did the job Most times na connect dey needed to build business history and osinbajo knows this His concern would have been putting a mechanism in place to ensure the job is done by the group and using the contract price agents to see that it's not overbloated He left all this and threw the baby and bathwater because of politics |

Re: Train Attacks: Buhari Approves Railway Surveillance Contract by kayuseful: 9:39am On Apr 08, 2022 |
MadamExcellency:If this is how the surveillance system works, then it has failed already 1. The terrorists used mines according what we heard. Mines will not break any rail line until the train coach gets to its spot. So the detector can't see anything 2. Let's even assume the detector senses a mine and alerts the train driver some km away. The best he will do is to stop the train. This is exactly what the bandits want to achieve. So when you stop, they start firing and can come in This country, we will leave the root of a problem and be blaming the leaves. I know the reason this contract is urgently awarded is so they can restart that train so it can stop putting a dent on their image. That's all. Not that they cared. They will force that train to resume in some days time. Watch out |

Truthisunique2: All in the name of politics, you go about spewing inanities! It is pathetic how low you guys can go! FEC asked very germane questions and those questions are still valid till date: 1. Why award a rail track surveillance contract to a company without proven record in that specialized field? 2. Why award a contract worth above 3 billion Naira to a company whose annual turnover is less than 100 million Naira? 3. Why award such a contract without a public tender and no public advert for invitation to bid? 4. Why award such a contract to a company that was incorporated less than 2 years before the award of contract? 5. Why award such a contract with a 100% down payment? Even though, I have been an admirer of Amaechi since his days in governance in Rivers state, he lost me on this one and the FEC presided by Prof was right to have thrown this contract out. Buhari can go on signing anything and everything if he likes. At least, we have seen the effects of all his approvals for military expenditures: more people are being killed daily! 1 Like |
