7 years is better than 8 yrs of money wasting, instead of conducting election every 4yrs and still re electing same pple, let them stay for one 7yrs term. Naija spends shit to re elect this so called politicians into power. infact we spend shit to rig them back to power.

That has always been his intention even before the elections. And,absurdly, the clueless president wants to perpetuate himself in power.

My take on the 7 years single term is that it should be reduced to 5 years single term and rotational within the 6 geopolitical levels. Also consideration should be given to rotation of powers in all states(Governors) and regional levels.Priority must be attached to  ensuring that a tribe does not keep floating representatives at the detriment of other minorities within states and zones. For any tribe that holds power for presidential and state must not repeat such until others have had a turn, either at state or regional level period. shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

For me the single longer term is better. We save cost on the stupid INEC expenses.Lastly it gives enough time to carry out polices.About whether we will be stuck with a leader who is bad for a longer time.I say we could push for an impeachment and support wider protest for removal. The leaders are also expendable. We only need to sit up and push against any leader who sucks!!!!We need to start utilizing our God given right and power to boot a leader out when we have no use for such a person. undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided

So that is the problem now? Tenor
The man needs just 7months to equal Yaradua's entire stay.
What has he done? virtually nothing. It took him one year to deliver on the minimum wage bill and he has not even paid it
This govt was installed by propaganda
and we are seeing more propaganda to hold it aloft

GEJ has obviously learnt from Paul Biya of Cameroon , who has spent half of his 78 years as the president of that country through exactly the same tactics. Change the tenure and law cannot act retrospectively so everybody is eligible. But you have more experience as current   president therefore most eligible and some "respected citizens" will always come out to say so.

Right now an election campaign is going on in the Cameroon with the newest constitution amendment and with Paul Biya as the leading candidate. He actually scores upto 98% votes in general elections!

I think OBJ did not remember this in time so he is now selling the idea to GEJ.

lollz! GEJ never disappoints. The guy has to be the most cunning character to make it to Asorock. Very intelligent and crafty. Who needs a second term wen u can jus add it to ur current tenure with out risk of electorate deciding contrary. grin grin grin

anything is possible in nigeria with money.
if he shares enough money in both houses then he can have it passed.
Re: Jonathan Proposes 7-year Single Term by oluwabamis(m): 10:28am On Jul 15, 2011
four years is even too much for naija under him, seven years is definitely a disaster with JEG or is it GEJ. Pls all nigerians say nay to this. Nigeria cant afford 7 years with JEG. There possibly cant be any hope left for us by 2018, just two years to the much touted yr 2020, we definitely have to postpone that magic yr 2020 to maybe 2030.

JEG we will not endure a day after may 29th 2015.
