Catalytic converter is not a fuel saving device but depending on engine and exhaust design, removal or restriction can increase fuel consumption. |

treatise:So in essence, driving with AC on takes more fuel that when AC is not on no matter the circumstances only that windows down on top speed drags the car backwards making acceleration harder. So instead of leaving windows down on top speed, it's better to have AC on so one doesn't suffocate right? |

When you remove your catalytic converter the following will happen: 1) Your engine will loose some back pressure, this will shift your torque curve upward. So you'll need to reach higher rpm to get the power you were getting before. You may get additional horsepower if everything is done right. Freeflowing air intake and ECU reprogram. 2) Your engine sound will change. This will ginger you into racing the engine more, mostly unnecessarily. Both of these will lead to lower MPG. 5 Likes 1 Share |

drlateef:You're talking about stop-go-stop city driving. I had in mind driving at a steady high speed like 100 km/hr and moderate speed like 60 km/hrs - certainly fuel consumption will be less at the lower speed on a highway. 1 Like |

mu2sa2: There’s a top speed at which fuel consumption is optimum even on highway. It’s around 70-80miles/hour. Below that it’s high and above that it’s higher consumption. A combination of factors are responsible for that. At lower speed, I have forgotten that phenomenon in Physics which makes the speed of movement of tyres to give a negative feedback for less consumption and maintaining the speed. But this happens at optimum speed I mentioned. At higher speed above 80miles, the effect of wind comes in to increase the consumption. Wind effect is less at that optimum speed. Other factors are engine size, the body size, shape, fuel efficiency of the car, and weight of the car, a full petrol tank contributes to the weight and causes a drag thereby causing more fuel consumption. 1 Like |

Having the catalytic converter stolen from one's car in the USA or any other nation with vehicle emissions laws is a big, big, big deal because, without the cats, the engine will NOT pass emissions tests that are a prerequisite for vehicle registration. In short, any motorist who cannot afford the few hundred dollars needed to replace stolen catalytic converters in the USA will not be allowed to register their car to drive it legally on any street or highway. Driving an unregistered car is a good way to become a guest of the prison service therefore anyone intending to use a vehicle in the USA or EU must have those cats in place. In Nigeria where there are NO vehicle emissions tests or requirements, losing the cats in one's car is no biggie, since that vehicle can still be driven and registered. 1 Like |

Advanced concrete pumping machine is affordable and effective, which makes them popular. It is used to easily transfer liquid mixed material from the container to anywhere around the building. The concrete pump hose helps you join the pump to the instrument outlet and convey materials easily. |
