Donjazet2: The fact that Buhari couldn't do much with Saraki as senate president in his first term should tell u how difficult it will be for a President to do a lot of things that require NASS members approval with whom he does not share the same ideology . It doesn't matter what u say based on personal conviction, it is the reality that will happen that matters. You are an idealist I get that, but u just need to underatnd that Peter Obi appointing Doyin Okupe campaign DG, Peter Obi Meeting Gumi are all pointers that Obi being a politician will definitely with those we may assume to be devil reincarnate and he will do enough horse trading if he ever intends to be a president who will have a chance to change things. 1 Like |

Donjazet2: Let's try to be realistic bro. Nigerian People elect Representatives into NASS, hence their Opinions, demands are expected to be relayed to the Government via their various Representatives. It's easier said than done. You can assume, dream of how you expect Administration of Peter Obi to pan out, but in Reality it may never work that way. Lagos - Ibadan Expressway would have been completed if Saraki didn't frustrate it. In 2017, Saraki led NASS slashed amount budgeted for the Road by ₦30b and heaven didn't fall, neither did anyone protest despite that the Expressway is the busiest in Nigeria. Buhari was an ex HOS, a former Dictator, yet he couldn't do a jack to veto and went ahead with the budgetary plan because this is democracy not autocracy. When Spy was talking Veto this morning, I laughed out loud like is it not our Nigeria he's talking about? Peter Obi may have good plans, intentions and policies to turn things around in Nigeria but without NASS backing - nothing gonna happen. Thanks to OBJ by the way, he made NASS what they are today because of his 3rd term [selfish] Agenda. You keep accusing BAT Supporters of playing tribal card with their choice, whereas in Reality, we are simply looking for a Personality that can possibly have control over NASS. A Personality that political Retirees sitting idle, shouting Ye and Nay while feeding fat on our national cake will respect. A personality that can influence their leadership to working cordially with him and ensuring his plans and policies are not frustrated. If PDP give their Ticket to Peter Obi, perhaps he would have got more supports even from present BATISTs. PDP have Structures and I believe Nigerians wouldn't have hesitated to kick out APC for PDP as Osun Indigenes recently did. Lack of real [political] Structures is a big Obstacle to Peter Obi Aspiration. Cabal will take over his leadership if he wins. He'll be forced to listen to them or gets frustrated and eventually impeached. ..... and stop dreaming of possible mass defections from other parties to LP, if Peter Obi wins. That ain't gonna happen, rather opposition parties gonna see it as opportunity to settle scores, turn him a puppet and feeding fatter. 3 Likes |

What I seem not to grasp is, do we enjoy d NASS good relationship with d presidency leading to our suffering Or we are just so obsessed with how impossible it is no change or try to change d status quo? Irrespective of our biased acceptance of our respective candidates,I believe we all have a common agreement which is d excessive cost of maintaining d NASS gluttony. I think a practical way of trying to give them signs is by first cutting d presidency's expenditure. Then it will be dem vs the masses atleast it will become clearer to even d dumb followers 7 Likes |

Spy360:This right here is the key. The politicians for japa countries ain't saints (human beings dey naturally inclined to be corrupt) but they know that the moment they mess up, they get kicked out. There is a very high level of accountability. That is the difference. Instead we celebrate mediocrity, shouting ranka-dede all over the place. Poverty na bastard. 2 Likes |

BlueRayDick: I'm sorry bro, I don't just like when I see people complain and complain of a situation without proferring what they believe is a solution. Constantly diagnosing a problem without ever offering a solution is kind of an extreme negative mindset for me. For example, you are saying that democracy doesn't work in Africa whereas what you're actually seeing in those parts is autocracy. And you are not offering up a solution or an alternative to the problem. A healthy democracy offers up a pathway for constant leadership change. Eg, enough Kwara state indigenes are tired of the saraki dynasty, well here comes a new alternive, enough edolites are tired of oshiomole, well here comes obaseki, enough abians are tired of orji family, here comes Alex otti. That's the beauty of democracy, the power of the masses to choose their own leaders. Tell me if theocracy, autocracy or monarchy offers this. 4 Likes |

BlueRayDick: Mentioning doyin is quite disingenuous because doyin prior to now has been a very light weight politician. Whatever sin's doyin has ever committed previously pales in significance to what his mates have done or are doing. Add to the fact that he has been used as a sacrificial lamb already is a very good omen if you ask me. If at this early stage, a prominent member of the campaign is booted out as an example to the rest, well it potrays a good omen ahead. And it's almost like I need to always re-echo this. Yes, you will not find any saint in politics, but what you have is the best of the rest. Tinubu and atiku can't even open their mouths to campaign on anti-corruption. That's already a heavy red flag because the 2 of them are mired in heavy corruption antecedents unlike Obi. This mindset of constantly equating the 3 really has to stop. Only obi's ticket represents the very best of the masses intentions. 4 Likes |

Segedinho: .... both Tinubu and Peter Obi have it in their respective manifestos to do that. I do not know much about Atiku's plans though, but I hope he also has it in plan to do same if he emerges. NASS Structures need to be reviewed. Bicameral Legislature is expensive for a Country like ours. We don't need it, unicameral is what we should be practicing to reduce cost. Nigeria should scrap House of Representatives and keep Senate only. Red Chamber offers equal Representation per state, the numbers ain't much and it will be easier to maintain financially. I hope for an administration that will have ball to propose it, work on it and make it happen.

OasisX: You keep presenting the manifesto of APC despite them proving that they themselves deem it worthless. When it's been proven that part of it was even plagiarized word for word from an internet source. The last APC manifesto that decieved millions of Nigerians, APC talked about restructuring, only for it's current VP candidate shettima to be telling Nigerians later, "to hell with restructuring". So if you successfully decieve Nigerians again this time and we later ask tinubu about this manifesto and he tells us that "he likes to be polite but we should shurrup our mouths" what do we do? 6 Likes |

Donjazet2: Manifesto of Bola Ahmed Tinubu not APC as a party, point of correction. I remember at beginning of this Thread, we all sought for manifesto of every candidate, so what changes? Political Parties in Nigeria have no ideologies, hence you have got to seek for candidates' manifestos to know their plans for the country. APC is in power, but the Administration is Buharis. I thought you are an advocate of vote an Individual not a party? Don't let us derail bro, let's talk Nigeria today. Let's discuss the way forward out of this mess. I love the Country as you, and hope it bounces back to her position as giant of Africa. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 2:47pm On Jan 06, 2023 |
Donjazet2: Doyin Okupe has no business being in Peter Obi's team from the onset, almost everyone who is politically conscious knows He's one of those who ate from the arms deal scandal.. It's a good thing he was let go eventually tho. I am not concerned with anybody being a saint or not. I don't share in such delusions. Maybe some people equate them to be one and same, but I don't. I know Obi compared to the other candidates has a lesser baggage as far as corruption is concerned. What I don't agree with are ur idealist views on political matters. |

Segedinho: I understand and feeling the frustrations of every Nigerian too. Its affecting me as its affecting everyone else on this board. But are we gonna give up on the country? I believe as a Patriot, answer should always be NO! We may have lost interest in the manifesto and party promises, but that do not mean we should give up on the country. Whoever emerges will be supported with prayers and whatever to make him succeed..... and we'll hope he fulfills his promises and plans. As for NASS, PMB never has ball. You can't give what you don't have. Easiest coup in the History of Nigeria was against him. The coup was carried out successfully because Idiagbon, his second in command, was outa the Country. We shouldn't put PMB and Ball in the same sentence bro. Imagine nonsense Saraki did with him in his first term? OBJ would have got Saraki replaced sharply - that's a Man with Ball. |

OasisX: But that's the thing, you really cannot claim to love this country and advocate for this tinubu to be it's leader. It's almost nihilistic to advocate for a tinubu presidency upon Nigeria after experiencing yaradua and buhari. Are we really to forego the genuine health concerns?? Are we to forget that we need a mobile and agile leader that will be constantly moving from place to place attending administrative functions and being mentally alert to constantly evolving situations. Do you sincerely believe that this tinubu is up for that task? You don't have to ask Nigerians to imagine an immobile president, we've witnessed it twice!! Secondly, are we really expected to forego the issue of character?? Do you really believe that ohr president should be a person of no good moral standing? A person whose early years of life is completely shrouded in mystery and secrecy? We don't know where this man grew up, we don't know the environment he grew up in? We don't know if he was a good person in his early youth or if he was a killer on the streets like his current boys agabka and mc oluomo. What we do know is that he was involved in the deadly narcotics trade and has a criminal record for a deeply immoral cause. Do you really expect Nigerians to vote in a completely deeply immoral character with heavy baggages as our president when there are better options? Then talking about surrounding forces around him, can you tell us the new crop of people around him to expect if not these same class of failures. Are you saying that fashola, elrufai, fayemi, yahaya and the rest of this current failed class of leadership will not be the makeup of his cabinet seeing as they would be the ones that have to work to put him in? Again brother, you really can't claim to love Nigeria and advocate for a tinubu presidency. It's just not logical. 4 Likes |

BlueRayDick: I am one of the most affected by this fuel situation. I am seriously invested in the transport business and the drivers can't get fuel. They are all complaining. If they can't get fuel to work, no returns for me. That's why I said it is happening already and everyone is just moving along. No protest, no backlash, no riot, nothing. So why not just remove it? One woman wanted to enter public transport today. A place she used to go with 50 naira, they told her 300 naira. She went back home. That is our new reality. |
