The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Monday, unleashed a torrent of abuse and threats on PUNCH’s State House Correspondent, Mr John Ameh.

The Saturday PUNCH story, “Tribunal: Buhari retracts, confesses he was under pressure” had quoted Buhari as telling some leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress who visited him on Friday that he was under tension while the tribunal delivered its judgment on Wednesday

The president’s admission, our correspondent noted in the story published on Saturday, was contrary to an earlier statement issued by Adesina in which he claimed that the President had not experienced any anxiety over the proceedings of the election tribunal.

You think naija corruption is due to lack off audit trail or paper trail? Not when millions of dollars are involved.
The problem I believe is the sheer number of gatekeepers that have been compromised, weak institutions.. whereby those with integrity are outliers an example is what happened in lagos where an exposed corrupt Obasa was refusing to confirm Dr. Abayomi, what does such actions say to those who take their work seriously?

Under Obasanjo, Nigeria took the first highest external loan in 1978. 1 billion US dollars from the the International Capital Market.

In 2004 our total external debt was almost 36 billion dollars.

In 2007 Paris Club Debt Relief and exit from the London Club brought our external debt to 3+ thousand million US dollars.

Under Obasanjo, our domestic debt increased in billion of US dollars.

In the first quarter of 2015, our external debt was 9+ thousand million dollars.

In the first quarter of 2023, our outstanding external debt was 40+ thousand million dollars.

During Buhari's time, the world encountered two global economic crises. The Covid 19 economic crises in 2020 and the global economic crises in 2016.

Sanusi should know better because he was the CBN governor in 2009. The world experienced economic crises in 2008. In 2008, our foreign exchange reserves was almost 60 billion US dollars. Nigeria spent 20 billion of our foreign exchange reserves to absorb the shock of that crisis. Had it been there was not enough foreign exchange reserves, what would have happened?

The "Economist" Sanusi u always refenced warned Buhari's government that only investment in the economy could bring about Economic growth and not recklessly amassing debts that will be invested in infrastructure that will not yield any economic benefit . He didn't listen . Sanusi saw the future when he asked: Your citizens will ride on a train and when u ride on a train, in northern Nigeria, in a state like Kano or Katsina, where are u going to? U are not going to an industrial estate to work . U are not going to school? U are not going to farm. U borrow money from China to invest in trains so that ur citizens can ride on them and go to weddings and naming ceremonies

Now Obasanjo is saying the truth we've always known while u clap for Buhari , now u are saying Obasanjo doesn't know what he's saying ....Smh

There are points u can use to drag Obj(Like the investment in Power sector that never yielded positive result till date), but the issue of debt is definitely not one. The same Obj that travelled all over the world to have Nigeria's debt forgiven ?
