The way blueray quote this law I know he has had one 12 year old prosecuted for throwing stones at his car cheesy

😂

No o.
It was one time that they arrested some “Awawa boys “ who were minors I was kinda curious how the govt will prosecute them.

I googled criminal law as it relates to minor in Nigeria , it that was when I now learnt some of these things .

If you'll excuse my language, they have no problem fking 10 year Olds in the North so I don't expect them to have any problem sentencing them to death.

The north is another country on its own o.

In a statement released on Friday and shared with FIJ, NBA said Awoke was released from custody alongside one Onyiba Emmanuel Chinonso, a computer science student at Ebonyi State University.

“I am pleased to inform you that I have, today, 21 June 2024, secured the release of our colleague, Pius 1. Awoke, Esq of Abakaliki Branch from the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS). He was released alongside one Onyiba Emmanuel Chinonso, a computer science student of Ebonyi State University, who was arrested and detained with Mr. Awoke,” the NBA statement reads in part.

FIJ reported on May 23 that Awoke, who was arrested by the DSS while traveling from Ebonyi to Abuja on July 21, was still being held. A source had revealed that the agency refused to charge him in court or grant him bail as prescribed by the constitution.

“Awoke was travelling from Ebonyi to Abuja when officials of the DSS stopped his commercial vehicle and arrested him. They arrested all the men who were on the bus, including him, thinking they were of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) sect,” the source told FIJ.

When they say may Nigeria never happen to u, na big prayer o.

3 years of people’s life wasted just like that. 😳

I’m sure the school would’ve rusticated the student after he didn’t register for courses nor pay school fees for 3 session. Not knowing he’s languishing in DSS detention .

As in…. That’s the problem, no consequence for their actions . That was how one DPO earlier in the year ordered a lawyer that had gone to secure his client’s release to be locked up . His boys even assaulted the lawyer .

After punch published the story and NBA took it up , they only redeployed the DPO as punishment . The DPO is still a police officer till date .

The admiral was retired, but it turns out the victim was the daughter of an army general. Otherwise it would have been business as usual

I remember this story , the footage was aired on Galaxy Tv that year . The lady only got a semblance of justice because her own old man is also military .

Nobody is expecting his unionism to shine through as the spokesperson of the government . But one expects that his years in the trenches would make him understand the pain of the union and their members.

Instead of going combative and always really to fight the unions , he should speaking to their pain points and communicating what the government is doing to assuage their discontent with his principal .

That is the difference between reality and hypothesis. Ajaero dem dey call for 500K minimum wage, I am 100% certain if he is made Edo state governor today, he wont pay above 120K
Just like every employee thinks the employer should be paying more, working them less.

If he becomes governor and the NLC chairman ask him for increase, he too will see that all the boasts and mouthmaking different when you are on that seat

Funny how my dad had this very edition of The News Magazine .

It was this very edition of the magazine I first read about the Chagouri brothers . The publication was like 5 months after Abacha died .

Bayo Onanuga and the rest of the media guys then actually fought for democracy with their pen. It is shame that all of them are now the oppressors today. They are the ones justifying some of the nonsense they fought against back then. For example he’s criticizing labour for protesting against hardship caused by government’s policy .

The date says Nov 1997. Abacha was even still alive then. Just goes to show you the level of ruggedness Onanuga had in his youth. People tend to become less revolutionary as they get older.

N
I dont blame the NLC chairman though, when the chairman see him lavishing money anyhow at a period of "austerity" and asking the citizens to endure, the union are well within their right to demand for a living wage.

Our politicians are not sincere, you cant keep asking the citizens to endure while you are lavishing the little you say is available.

You say you can't pay 150k as minimum wage but you want to spend billions on frivolities. Even if the billions you want to spend on frivolities will not be enough to cater for the 150k minimum wage, common sense dictates that you dont portray the govt as insensitive and callous.
