This is definitely not a good thing for Nigeria. Our dependence on oil has already reached ridiculous levels, but these kinds of developments would make it insane to even think about diversifying our revenue stream now. May God save our soul. With all the influx of the Chinese to naija, the last thing we need is more oil. Niger Deltans don die, by the time all these this done, that area would be a hell hole.

More money for the oil companies, take a case of one of the oil companies exploring 1 billion barrels of oil per annum.if a barrel goes for $100 that's a $100billion(might be more or less) for that company.if Shell,agip,chevron,total,Mobil etc make so much money from our land and the little left for nigeria is embezzled then what's the common man's gain?

Nations who have no oil at all are showing us up, those who are striking oil are citing Nigeria as a test case on how NOT to "manage" their oil.

We are the country that people use as a prime example of the dreaded "Dutch disease", lets get this into perspective and stop "bragging on top nothing", as Tuface sang.

Aren't you embarrassed that despite the amount oil we have, and which position we occupy in the list of OPEC exporters, it is not likely to make ANY difference to what you or I experience on ground in Nigeria (that is unless we are in the privileged circles who HOG the whole thing to themselves)?

Correct! They have turned virtually all of us to hustlers, when a man is still looking to meet his Physiological needs. Satire is the last thing on his mind.

This can be acknowledged when the wealth generated as a result of this, is equally spread among the populace.

for God's sake nigeria is no. 2 exporter; and not no. 2 producer. other countries produce crude, refine the crude and export the surplus crude and refined products. nigeria produces crude, exports all the crude and import all the products she uses. that's what brought about the high ranking. it is a ranking of failure not achievement please.

for your information, nigeria's oil reserves are depleting without any replacement. with no concrete policies in place, investment in nigeria's oil and gas industry is at its lowest ebb now. no new discoveries, no new facilities and no new refineries.
