Lol! Road sweepers probably earn minimum wage abroad. You think $2k to $3k per month is big money living abroad?

Every normal human being in western country has more than one job. How many hours would it take an African to sweep oyinbo street? What are they doing with the reminding 20+ hours of the day?

The street sweeper also belongs to a union that would take care of them if they fall sick. If I go and slap the street sweeper and he report, an officer would spend hours searching for me on CCTV and the street and most importantly, if the street sweeper stay away from crime and work on himself, he can make it.

I will ignore your comment on my country of residence. But lots of Nigerians who relocated back home from abroad without a strong footing or conenction all ran back after few months and pound/dollar don finish. Only those who stay back are the well connected or those who came home to retire.
In the uk, the narrative for naija immigrants is changing. There's a strong middle class community with lots of healthcare professionals, IT guys, lecturers, professionals who work in logistics and financial companies. These are the group we talking about.
I was in Turkey 2 month ago, there were sizeable Nigerian tourists from western countries with their families in the 5 star hotel I resided. I was impressed. Young families at that.
I dont know where he got majority of Nigerians are suffering from. Travel to USA and see what nigerians are doing. 100k per yr is no big deal among Nigerian professionals in the usa. Its early days for nigerians in canada, but I'm sure in 5 yrs time, they will begin to advance in their respective careers.
It's not a must u fulfil your dream in Nigeria. allow those who wants to relocate albeit legally do so. personally, its worth the effort.

But have you actually done proper research using a proper sample size. There are over 500,000 9ja born individuals in the USA, percentage of those making 100,000 or more per year is less than 10%. It's even worse in the UK, what you didn't factor in was that most people who travel from 9ja to USA/UK do so as visitors then spend years trying to get proper documentation to start a career. Most do so in about 3-7 years and even at that they won't smell that 100k per year benchmark. Everyone is entitled to chase greener frontiers but doing so with a realisitc mindset would make the journey much more easier.

Part of being realistic is knowing that even if you're making 100k per year in the USA, your take home pay might actually be less than 75k, then your bills starts playing WHOT, pick 3, general market and so on......For America here it still amazes me that a surgeon could go broke even tho he makes over 400k per year, I did not understand until I saw the enormous bills these people put upon their heads.....OMO!

Because they have been hit with the reality of life over there. In contrast to the dreams of flashiness they thought they were going to meet
See bro,you might travel and things will work for you easily than they told you, that doesn't mean they were lying or trying to discourage you, they were just being sincere.
It’s a big fat lie bros. What is at play is called economic TERRITORIALITY. Though it is inherent in every human but it’s worse anywhere poverty is endemic. Most of the time, if an African man invites you to come grab an opportunity, then know that there’s a catch (emphasis on “Most”) I’m trying not to generalize. That’s why I always tell people falling preys to ponzi and betting scams, there’s no free money/opportunity anywhere. AFRICANS ARE NOT BUILT TO HELP OR OPEN ONE ANOTHER TO OPPORTUNITIES. If an African man has a fortune tree in his backyard, he will never let you anywhere near his abode. So bros, you’re implying that these guys didn’t want OP to come face the sad experiences they’ve been though over there right?
They got hit by the reality but to come back home na no no
Pls stop misleading ppl. We all know what’s at play here. They keep telling you the pasture is not greener on the other side but they rather die there than come back home. It’s all man to himself and nobody is willing to share with you his secret to financial freedom (except maybe your blood relations). If you doubt me, ask a retailer where and how he sources for his goods; that you would like to join the business and wait for his reaction cheesy

These past weeks, I've been reaching out to my friends who are abroad to help me with links or advices to move abroad too. But I discovered that none of them decided to help, instead they discouraged me either by saying, "it's difficult to move now or the country isn't issuing visa now".

One of my guy in CANADA defiantly ignored my text when I asked him for links or the route he used to move, the other in Korea said the country isn't issuing visa now but he recently moved back and another directly said that it's very hard to get visas now to travel. But one Asian American in the States gave me lots of links to move to the State and even encouraged me to move.

But then I don't understand why our African brothers over there will never encourage or advice someone willing to move. Is it envy or greediness or what? I've never had any of my guy abroad encourage me to move when I asked for advice. If things are difficult over there, why not come home?

NB: I never asked them for fund cos the money is available.

Use that Money to start business in Nigeria ...And Thank Me later, Abroad is not Easy Now Especially We Africans(We regarded third class everywhere)Now they prefer Ukraine Refuge,Ukraine Refugees Taking the little work we use to Manage.......Stay Home Water where Ur are?

It's your mentality. Ukraine is only 4 million refugees that have already settled. 4 million scattered around the world (including African) is a drop of water in the ocean. Just for the records, 80% of Ukraine is NOT at war so these are mostly economic immigrants and unfortunately they are lazy.

The western world needs workers and they want diversity meaning being a black, female and someone of different sexual orientation would increase you chance of being hired. Also the locals know their rights and are not used to working. If you bring your Nigerian work ethic, you would rise to the top easy.

It’s harder to make it over there than in Nigeria, except you’re extremely lucky..

Bills too much. My brother stays in Texas. He lived inside trailer for more 10 years before being able to secure an affordable home

Life became more easy when he met his baby mama, a Latina from Brazil. Both working and helping each other which makes it more easy..

Now, if I wanna travel there, it won’t be very hard for me to navigate, unlike somebody that has nobody living there..

Some other things I can’t talk about. Reality is it’s not easy anywhere around the world except you’re extremely lucky..
your brother don't have paperwork ... simple.

Do you have legitimate papers? Are the people you are bringing to the Uk legitimate workers? I am a British citizen, I lived in the Uk for more than 10 years I know the system. The question was whether I would encourage someone to move abroad. I wouldn’t because it is trading one form of suffering for a life of certain perperpual slavery for most who will migrate!!! Particularly if they don’t have papers. Like I said, I was born in The Uk I have a British passport, I am well educated I came home. Yes I miss some of the basics but I don’t regret it. I will never live abroad!!! I will never actively encourage anyone either except your circumstances are so dire but I will also warn you that once you acquire the basics, you will be miserable…..it is not a bed of roses!!’
you already have passport. If there is war in Nigeria you have a fallback. Let people go and get their own passport.

Clearly you don't know anything about Indians.

There is no race that hate each other like Indians. They're competitive, envious, sneaky, wicked, and highly divisive on language, tribe, religion, and region. India isn't one homogeneous country, it's a hodgepodge of castes and languages and norms.

Noticed; if they didn't school overseas, they have huge language problem (reading and writing). So they need each other because they can't stand alone. They MUST contribute as a gang because everyone is not well trained to stand alone.

If they come back, they know they will be asked unwanted and uncomfortable questions. I know of a bank manager who sold her properties to travel overseas. When she got there, the only job she was offered was to sweep the roads. She couldn't come back because of the amount of ridicule she would face here

By the way, how do you define one country “better” than another? Do you measure it by the prices of goods and services, or by what exactly?

You were in Ghana? Did you see people being kidnapped on the streets? You didn’t see electricity was stable and regular? Just these two things alone make Ghana a better country. You want Ghana, Cameroon etc government to give you, a foreigner, a job in their country? cool Are you serious?

Tycyborg:

Thanks for this...
I remember I use to listen to people saying ghana is better than Nigeria or benin republic or other african country...
I decided to first go to ghana left my job to start a life there since it's better only for me to meet reality... I came down to benin republic no jobs nothing even people there are looking at me as a big man there whereas I am suppose to look up to them for jobs and other things... They were even asking me if they can follow me to Nigeria to start a life... I was shocked...
I left and went to cameroon and same thing... Later I can back to nigeria with almost nothing...
I started over again and haven gotten my foot like before I left...
I faced hell in other countries...
Eversince then I don't listen to people saying I want to travel out or nigeria Is worse than other country...
When I came back finally I had to lie that I went outside Nigeria to work and I was scammed.
I learned my lesson...
So same happens to people all over the country... Many will regret few will be lucky to make it and few means very few...
Since then if anyone is talking about travelling out to make it...
All I tell them is go and see for yourself cos people don't like truth... It will only take you grace and huge luck to make it except you are into dirty business...
Let the man be and have a taste of it who knows he might be among the few and there is higher possiblity that he will lament...
People outside the country lies about the flamboyant lifestyle and movies is all bull sh*t... Most things are lies and most stories about Nigerians saying they make billions after travelling out are either into dirty business or just lying cos or disgrace they might face...
I learned my lessons and let him learn too

They have been in Canada for several generations, those things really matter. Compared to a fresh immigrant 10 years in still trying to find his feet.

The Nigerian community will help you here no doubt but it will have to be family and even then e get as e be.

It also depends on the location, here in Vancouver housing is very expensive, so there is no room for housing someone long term. Especially when 3 or more adult will potentially be sharing a toilet and bathroom.

My parents hate it here for that one reason lol
you can accomodate someone who can split the bills with you. Once he or she gets on her feet they would move on. They might even be your benefactor tommorow

Yeah, but not always.

Depends if they're the same language to begin with.

Someone who speaks Hindi may not understand Urdu, Tamil, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Kashmiri, Santali, or other Indian languages.

Also, Hindus and Muslims don't get together at all.

So it really does depend who they're, where in India they're from, what social caste they belong to, and what religion they practice...no matter the environment they find themselves in.

What exactly do you mean by encourage? Let me explain it to you as someone who has a British passport has live abroad for many years but returned home.

The truth is life over there is a sort of bondage for someone with a Nigerian mindset. You are constantly working to pay bills , no matter how much you earn your expenses rise such that you are a slave to your job, the system entraps you in ways I can’t describe here for sake of brevity, unless you are amongst the few who can establish a means of income in the multiples of hundreds of thousands be it dollars be it pounds. Otherwise yes you will eat well and enjoy certain basics that may not be available in Nigeria for most Nigerians but there are many negative intangibles especially for someone raised in Nigeria.

Unless you are a high paying job, $100-200k + life is not a bed of roses. Even at that level you are struggling but can afford things to mitigate the struggles like holidays back home or other destinations. In theory you will be better off than in Nigeria initially but life is such that once you overcome the basic sufferings back in Nigeria, the intangible negatives start to matter. I am back in Nigeria and I wouldn’t go back. I am lucky I can travel out when I am tired of Nigeria but I will never again live abroad….unless I am forced to. With all the problems of Nigeria, there is no place like home. There is a sense of freedom and self worth in Nigeria you have that you lose when you go abroad, that’s one of the intangibles I talk about. No matter what you will always be a nobody abroad….that’s another!!!

Would I encourage anyone to move abroad. It’s a hard question because you will pay a huge psychological price for moving abroad, one you will not understand until you get there and one I can never explain to you until you have experienced it. What I would say is, if you want to go abroad, have a mission and come back with if 5 years!!! I won’t encourage or discourage anyone!!! I wouldn’t actively encourage anyone because I don’t want to be the one responsible for selling you a dream that will not match your reality!!!!

If you are in Lagos I will gladly buy you lunch and if you drink as many bottles as you want

This is an ideal situation you have described but most won’t pay any rent or for any bills and will just eat your food.

On the other hand it’s soo expensive that most will already have room mates. Things are hard, it’s rare to see people that have an entire house with a spare room.

That arrangement is more likely in calgary.

I’ll put it in perspective, I pay $2950 for a 2 bedroom 2 bath. My spare room is free but it will be hard to take in a roommate mainly because I live with my wife and even then I would need to have a guarantee the person will leave within a month.

My wife and I are even managing to share the space , I can’t imagine another adult with us

They're.

Although Hindi is more dominant spoken by like more than 70%. But still, other factors mentioned also matter, such as religion and social class.

Indians are quite discriminatory among each other.

They're fiercely competitive and don't hesitate to throw each other under the bus to scale another rung up the social ladder.

Firstly, I'm not in London. Secondly, Who says care workers don't pay tax? You think it's only about tax? What about Ur bills, houserent, car insurance, fuel/diesel for car or transportation? TV licence and other smaller bills? You're definitely getting information from illegal immigrants or people that are squatting. Life out here is not rosy, you have to work for every pence, it definitely becomes easier after a while but not as many portray it from Nigeria.
