The governor of Osun State, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, has said that his administration would begin the construction and maintenance of roads across the state shortly after the rainy season.
He also stated that before the end of the year, the government would show the public an example of how public secondary schools must be like, the prototype of which would likely be completed by September.

Giving the hint in Ijebu-Jesa, the headquarters of Oriade Local Government Council Area of the state last Wednesday during the commissioning of some developmental projects carried out by the council chairman, Honourable Taiwo Fatiregun, the governor said that for a government to perform, it needed an appreciable period of time to handle budget, initiate policies and put in place programmes that would benefit the people forever.

He said: “The roads are going bad, no doubt, and that is the indication of poor management of our resources in the last seven and a half years, but whoever wants to attempt road maintenance and construction now, during the rainy season, is just wasting money and time.

“We are reserving our energy and resources till after the rains. You will see superlative performance on road maintenance and construction. We are not comparable to those that wasted our resources for seven and a half years in any way and I am happy that our people noticed this before they chose us in preference to them. By the grace of God, we shall not disappoint them.

“Before the end of this year, you will see the example of secondary schools that we are going to build and there will be no local government council area that will not have samples of it. The schools will be unique and they will take a large number of students, such that the present schools locations that are not worthy of our pupils would be dedicated to other things, while several of them would be able to match standard, beautiful and attractive academic institutions anywhere in the world”, Aregbesola noted.

Commending the council boss for his achievements within his short stay in office, the governor said that the performances of his proxies in all the council areas would be a tip of what would be recorded as an achievement and performance of the present administration from local government to the state level within the next one year.

He said that inspite of the little allocation to the council areas, the council bosses were still taking good governance to the doorsteps of the people, saying, “it is their allocation that they are using now; we are conserving the Excess Crude Oil fund that is meant for capital projects; which was being used by the last administration to eat pepper soup. “The fund is with us and by the time we are set, we will release that fund to them and you will see the amazing things that they will do with it”.

The essence of governance, he said, was to see government touching the lives of the people, adding that government has no business being in position if the welfare of the people is not affected.

“Whenever I read the tantrum of those who ruled us for seven and a half years without anything to show for it, I laugh and tell myself that as much as God lives, no matter how cocky they are, within the first two years, with the level of our performance, they will declare publicly that they did not perform at all.

What a funny guy! Here is a man who cannot even choose a couple of commissioners to serve the masses. He is going to single-handedly build schools and roads before the end of the year. He makes grand and highly deluded speeches; he promised to turn Osun state into the centre of Yoruba culture and tourism before the end of the year, not stopping there, he was going to massively export yams to Lagos by train and bring back the farm implements that would help Osun build its very own replica of Oke-Arin market.

It seems you are too quick to forget which party and group within Nigeria are the architect of violence, vote stealing and repeated apologies over inabilities to deliver on promises.

Aregbesola's antecedents mark him as most likely to succeed in his first executive position. As Lagos State commissioner for works he & others laid the foundation for the transformation of the face of Lagos. His indefatigable fight to recover (and he did recover his stolen mandate) - even when under the watch of the PDP stolen government police shot at him in broad daylight (video evidence already presented before a commission) show he is smart and fearless. He is not only an engineer, those speeches you refer to show him as a man of deep thought.

This is unlike someone that would remain unnamed - but keeps rising & rising without real merit or performance. PDD has shown it is not going to change - already an ACN witness has been arrested under GEJ's watch within court premises - as usual under orders from above.

^ why bother explaining to a PDP paid agent? Look like i ealier said when Beaf 'pop up' from middle of nowhere to start very silly threads, that peeps should stay away from his venom.

His covert mission is to reduce the heat on the failed PDP government by feeding a rotten idea to the dummies, while sublimly running their small IQ brains like a xbox infra-red remote control.

The question is why is he so INTRESTED is this fellow when so many PDP governors are turning their state in to a mini-IRAN?. . .Do you see him shouting on why states like plateau bans the wearing of trouser by female? . . Why kwankwaso is demanding to be paid 1.3 billion by the state government for his personal house?. . .why Delta state SSG is keeping more than 50 thugs in his '10 billion' naira mansion? Nah!

I dare him to talk about his clueless oga and the tenure elongation saga!

But then we all know how the PDP propaganda machine operates and why on earth was he singling out the ACN governor since the last two days.

Why hasn't he talk about Rachas 'shameful' appointments? . .like SA on lagos affairs, chief comedian of the state and so on? If you want to live long stay out of BEAF and his cohorts. They are nothing but DRACULAs looking for blood to suck.

Sir, how many other governors don't have commissioners after close to one year? Can you name one apart from the Negus Negast, Magnus Rex, Dear Leader and Supreme Overlord of Osun?

Please name just one sir. Those who were sworn in just a few months ago have already kicked off with governance (including his fellow ACN govs), while AregbeRASCAL is planning to "develop" Osun by blabbing about building a local version of Oke-Arin market (without commissioners) and exporting yams to lagos (again, without commissioners). We need to go into 40 days dry fasting for Osun. African never learn.

Are you capable of logical and objective criticism at all? Aregbesola is giving precise time-line for infrastructural work that will improve Osun State. That is more than can be said for GEJ and his apologists. Did GEJ not say that he has "no agenda beyond good Governance"? How vague is that?

Yet, rather than give the benefit of the doubt to a leader who has , without deceit or double speak, outlined targets you are here trying to malign the ACN. If some of you are not too far gone in bad belle, hate and ethnic bigotry , the worst you should say is "we will wait and see" because , with Aregbesola's clear time line, you will not have to wait long to resurrect this thread.

You certainly should not be assertively declaring Aregbesola will fail when you have no real reasons to speak so negatively. You and others should be ashamed of yourselves for letting bigotry carry you away to the extent that you cannot even wish others well anymore. Okorocha , for example, is saying a lot of things and I am personally hoping he delivers because Imo is a Nigerian State and the good people of Imo are my fellow Nigerians - not enemies.

Like I said to the chap above , why not simply wait a few months and resurrect this thread if Aregbesola is not doing what he says he will do instead of rushing in to blindly back Beaf? Don't you have your own mind? Is this a case of backing your "brother" without recourse to common sense ?

Does the rainy season last for 5 years? Only god knows what motivate some of you who call yourselves Nigerians. Politicians are vague, deceitful and slimy like the President who "did not promise any agenda beyond good governance". Same President also prefers to focus on a tenure elongation bill , with far more serious problems existing, he never told the electorate about before the election.

Now Aregbesola has given solid targets of infrastructural development , rare to see in Nigeria, everyone can hold him to in a short time span. folks , to include even his critics, should get behind him and give him the benefit of the doubt if they are still Nigerians at heart and not feudalistic ethnic bigots intent on seeing no good in others.

In any case, what Aregbesola states at the end of the article is indicative of the motivation behind the utterances of certain posters and their "tantrum" :

“Whenever I read the tantrum of those who ruled us for seven and a half years without anything to show for it, I laugh and tell myself that as much as God lives, no matter how cocky they are, within the first two years, with the level of our performance, they will declare publicly that they did not perform at all.

even with millions of ministers and wasteful aides, ur jonathan is yet to point to one tangible thing to show for all our trillions.
look at electricity, with all the road and bush maps, where are we?
look at security, even with all security faults and defense ministers and chief of commander and commander in chief, how far?
look at our roads, look at our federal schools and hospitals, what a shame?
a deceit that signed minimum wage law to win election is yet to implement that.
look at our corrupt officials, jonathan is one president that is yet to send a single person to jail for corruption. in all these, u choose to call another man mad. u and ur linage are mad.

@Koruji .

Do you now see what I was illustrating the other day? Is it now crystal clear? I bet all the senseless critics of Aregbesola in this thread are not from the SW . One has to wonder if this shameless and non-stop negative fascination with the SW is not driven by a sheer desperation to 'invoke' failure on the only region that is now virtually free of the "nest of killers" PDP.

It is not rocket Science to note that the paid hacks of GEJ on Nairaland , and their ethnic bigot followers, fear the success of the ACN that will put pressure on the non-performing PDP in future. If the ACN is delivering ,and Nigerians can see that
, it is obvious that not many states will resist the electoral allure of the "Yoruba Party"  in future. This is a prospect that is worse than death for some folks.

Look, I'm tired of all these he is weak arguments and party loyalists faulting opponent's candidates,

Beaf and gbawe, you too need to grow da hell up and I'm sure I'm saying this to people my dad probably drinks beer with!!!

Look, unless you kill Jonathan, he is still the one who is the closest to changing things and if things won't change, he is the closest to making things change,

Feedeefee or essien, it doesn't matter now; the elections are over and now isn't the time to have that "I told y'all so attitude",

We won't get no where if after elections, parties are waiting for their opposition to fail because they didn't win the election,

Seriously, I see too many buhari supporters coming out to say all sorts of nonsense hia!! Even Igbos that voted zombiatically for odechukwu are coming out to denounce him,

Look the nation in heading down, now if you can't help stop the down spiral, don't sit down entertain yourselves with the failure of our dreams!!!!

I don't care what party is in charge, Jonathan like many of you agreed is weak is in need of your support to strengthen his will right now!!! Don't wait for him to lose his will so you can laugh!!!

Organize, let him know you are in full support of him, show him the lack of change hurts, This guy hasn't seen a crying hungry baby in years so really, you know even though he had no shoes, he can now step on gold,

I want Odua nation but not that Nigeria must fail for such to happen,

Stop with the peniss measuring competitions you grown for nothing drones! The internet is not for you, you are suppose to be out there protesting, campaigning for what you think is right,

The internet is to spread information not to act, You can't change Nigeria by dissing odechukwu on here you retardeens,

If you are too scared to live and die for what's right then you deserve to die for the wrong reasons (Jmaine, my words not from movies lol) ,

How do you old folks in your 30s and 40s feel sitting here with 24yrs olds and below but still getting schooled on what it do undecided undecided

Seriously shame on you decays of humanity, shame on you,

Jonathan needs your honest and best support to know that Nigerians will die for him if he does the right thing, There are powerful cabals running this nation to the dark and if you let them absolve Jonathan, you won't say up nepa for a long time,

Kindly drop your slow unforgiving attitudes and go out there and show support for the president, let all the ACN senators, all the opposition members show their support for him, not kiss his Bottom but show him if he does the right thing, they are right behind him!!!!

We can't afford to be Republican, democrat crap right now in Nigeria,

Let them get involved too. If Jonathan fails, Nigeria is over but the real failures are those who out of hatred watch it fail,

Agbayas beaf, seanet, eko ile, aloy emeka, jason123, dayokonu, ezeuche, dede1, aigbofa, alj harem, Ileke Idi, kobojunkie, chyz, south east, gbawe, antitipiah, ekt bear, bluetooth, haka nai, big boi, Jarus, Negro_ntn.

I don't expect your knowledge to be anything but deliberately limited. What is written below must be fantasy then. Abeg , just give it up. You are not from the SW and the PDP will not be making a recovery in the region regardless of what you say in cyberspace. End of story. Stop demonizing the good guys just because you feel that is what you need to do to support GEJ and prove that "ACN is no different to the PDP". Nigeria needs to return to agriculture , amongst the many other sectors thriving before our oil doom boom. Aregbesola is doing this laudably. You cannot distract him so stop wasting your own time.

Aregbesola Delivers 3,000 Acres Of Land For Dry Season Farming

In line with his Six-Point Integral Action Plan, efforts by Governor Rauf Aregbesola to ensure massive food production in Osun State has received a boost, as 3,000 acres of arable land have been ploughed and planted for 67 farmers groups based in all the 30 Local Governments for the latter year farming. .
The programme which was flagged off by Aregbesola on March 31 has also recorded a major breakthrough in the disbursement of N153.26 million loan facility in cash and kind to the 67 farmers groups.
Executed under the Quick Impact Intervention Programme (QIIP), it was designed to speedily assist co-operative farmers to seize the opportunity of early rains to cultivate arable crops including the provision of inputs like tractorization of farmlands, fertilizers, herbicides and seedlings.
The QUIP model was initiated by the Osun Rural Enterprise and Agricultural Programme (O’REAP) to serve as catalyst for the achievement of bumper food harvest.
Modelled to utilize the on-going raining season to assist farmers to achieve improved food crop production, the QIIP model was deployed to provide inputs and land preparation to remove drudgery associated with traditional farming practices.
So far, a total of N49,110,225.00 has been disbursed by the Bank of Agriculture to farmers who have planted food crops like maize, cassava and rice on at least 47 hectares of land.
Beneficiaries of the loan are being given access to the facility in installments for specific operations so as to guarantee judicious usage and prevent misapplication of the fund.
It is after an operation has been satisfactorily completed that the farmers would be able to access the next stage of the loan to carry out the purpose for which it was provided.
O’REAP devised this method to curtail incidence of loan diversion or misapplication in addition to guaranteeing the success of QIIP.
Giving insight into how the project was carried out, Co-ordinator of OREAP and Team Leader of the Planning Group on Agriculture of the Governor, Dr. Charles Akinola disclosed that the multi-agency group was partnering with the Bank of Agriculture to showcase early demonstration of partnership with the private sector and service providers.
He advised members of the public to expect bumper harvest and increased assistance from the Aregbesola administration as the second cropping season of the year approaches.
Akinola stressed that “what we are doing is to aggressively scale up so that we can realise broader impact of O’REAP intervention as we move into the second cropping season and preparing for next year’s planting season”.

@ gbawe, its obvious you are a very bigoted person with your 'us vs them' mentality
how does aregbe's non-performance uplift my wellbeing in ph?
does aregbe have the monopoly of knowledge? he has been operating a govt without commisioners for 8 months.what has he achieved in that period without them and why does he need them now?

Gbawe:

I don't expect your knowledge to be anything but deliberately limited. What is written below must be fantasy then. Abeg , just give it up. You are not from the SW and the PDP will not be making a recovery in the region regardless of what you say in cyberspace. End of story. Stop demonizing the good guys just because you feel that is what you need to do to support GEJ and prove that "ACN is no different to the PDP". Nigeria needs to return to agriculture , amongst the many other sectors thriving before our oil doom boom. Aregbesola is doing this laudably. You cannot distract him so stop wasting your own time.

I don't have an "us vs them" mentality. I just know some folks rather well from paying attention to their history on Nairaland. It is no coincidence that it is , consistently, the same jaded characters who appear on every single thread ,with nothing positive to contribute, where "Yoruba" or "ACN" is mentioned . Why do you , for example, find it easier to be negative than to say "let us wait and see" considering that in a few short months you can resurrect this thread and prove your point?

As for your tag of "bigot" , I dont think you understand what the word means even if it is thrown around casually on NL these days. Standing up for my region and people can never make me a bigot. If you prove you have seen me , on any thread,  unfairly criticizing every non-Yoruba leader , when I should be giving them the benefit of the doubt, then your crude tag might have some justification. Rather, the word "bigot" is more suited to those you defend who automatically gravitate, with toxic bias and malevolence, towards issues to do with administrators from the SW and ACN Party.
