War is always avoidable when countries are led by democrats who make freedom and peace their priorities.

With such leaders, there is always a way to find a compromise diplomatically. At worst, countries freeze their relations and each ignores the other.

But with an expansionist dictator like Putin, you can imagine that this does not work.

Some will say that Ukraine should have just given in to Putin's demands. But let's be serious for a moment. Why should Ukraine have agreed to give up its sovereignty to meet Putin's demands?

Whether Putin likes it or not, Ukraine is a sovereign country that does not have to obey Putin's threats. It is in fact the fear represented by Putin that pushed Sweden and Finland to join NATO. The proof that Putin is seen by all Europeans for what he is: an existential threat.

With Putin at the head of Russia, this war was not avoidable. It started in February 2014, and the West did not react enough to support Ukraine and isolate Russia. This gave Putin the conviction that he could go even further.

The current war is the only way to preserve peace and democracy in Europe in the future. Putin understands only force. Therefore, we must respond to him with force and make him suffer a humiliating defeat so that he understands that he has no right to invade sovereign countries in Europe.
