There was a transaction i was about having with this certain micro finance bank, it wasn't successful because they requested for a current account checkbook.

i want to know, this checkbook they are requesting, how long does it take for bank to issue it after opening a current bank account with them, and please, what's the major difference between savings and current account?

Saving means old account which is been accessed already

No mind the guy above. Savings account is exactly what it's called - you put money there primarily to save it not to spend it. Your number of withdrawals per month are limited. Current account on the other hand is for money you'd be using, and there is usually no limited number of withdrawals. It usually comes with checks with your name printed on them. That's what they mean by checkbook. They can give you temporarily checks same day, then send your check book in the mail.
