This is a healthy liver. It contains a whole factory to produce hormones and substances that are vital for us. And it contains a recycling plant for the substances we ingest. Everything we ingest has to pass through the liver. It sorts out what can stay and what should go. It determines what is to be used now and what is to be transformed and shipped to storage. It also takes care of the conversion. When you drink alcohol, it ALWAYS gets priority in the liver over everything else. This means that everything else has to "wait in line" until the liver gets rid of the alcohol. It's not just that you keep more toxin in your body, but the liver can't break down the fat like it should. You gain weight first, and second, a lot of the fat is deposited in the liver itself.

(above you can see the cells of the liver "swollen" with fat under the microscope). You get an enlarged, a fatty liver. Especially if you also like to eat a lot of fat. Below you can see a normal liver compared to a fatty liver.

But, if you keep drinking, she'll never make it down the "dump." But if you stop now, it will be back to normal in a fairly short time. If you continue, the liver will become inflamed. Even that is still reversible. The liver is very forgiving and can regenerate really great and fast. By the way, you don't notice it when it's bad. You are just tired. Tiredness is the cry of the liver. It doesn't hurt. If you still keep drinking, you can get liver cyrrhosis. The wonderful liver tissue that works so hard with its genius cells turns into useless, sticky connective tissue.

You can't undo that. What's gone is gone. If you discover this early and stop drinking now, you can slow or stop the process. It's difficult. Sooner or later you die of cirrhosis of the liver. In a very miserable way. Not only are you full of poison, but your blood clotting doesn't work normally and various hormones are no longer produced. It can mean you die from internal bleeding. You get varicose veins in your esophagus. It has to do with blood stasis. When they burst, you go HOPS. They look like this from the inside:

They can burst once you vomit or cough too much. As a man, before you die, you get nice symptoms like: Breast development, loss of abdominal hair (belly baldness), shrinkage of the testicles. No more desire for sex, impotence. As a woman you masculinize. Later you get general organ failure, if you haven't bled to death yet. You fall into a coma. Dying of liver cyrrhosis is from the most miserable there is, it is hardly talked about how it goes on. You better stop in time. Have your liver values measured. If they have changed for the worse, just stop. Or at least take a break for a few weeks so your liver can recover. |
