Fhemmmy:

Bunch of Universities and yet no light to study, what a misplaced priority

texazzpete:

Lest we forget, GEJ told us all during his debate that the problem with Nigerian universities is 'poor accommodation'. The man is clueless!

it is worthless arguing with folks here, see the quotes above, they both think Gej is clueless, but here they are, different opinions. wat exactly do they want the president to do? oya over to them one after the other.

Gentlemen, Gentlemen (and ladies too), let's not get unnecessarily worked up over this issue, Whether the Apple/Exxon Mobil analogy is right or wrong is beside the point. President Jonathan is right on one count, that in today's world, knowledge is more important than oil.

The germane issues to address include (among others):

1. What concrete strategy does Mr President have to address the challenges of the educational sector? (And please don't tell me about building more universities, we need more than that)

2. Shouldn't Mr President consider devoting more funds to sponsor research (through a combination of statutory government funding and private endowment)?

3. The reform of our education system should begin with our basic education through to our secondary and tertiary levels, because GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out)

4. In my opinion, a society where a local government councillor earns several times the salary of a university professor cannot be said to be interested in developing a knowledge economy. A comprehensive review of salaries and allowances across all sectors and all tiers of government is necessary with a view to making our teachers the highest-paid workers in the country.

wtf people should stop using this analogy, it pises me the hell off.

Shall we also compare wisdom to copper? ow about we compare kindness with cocoa?

How do you quantify knowledge? at what point does it become more important than oil?

what exactly do people refer to when they say knowledge?. . .classroom taught or the one gained informally by experience? which of them is more important than oil?
