Unfortunately, or fortunately, Facebook did not get Snapchat, and I doubt they'd want twitter or be allowed to have it. And if they were allowed to have it their only intention would be to kill twitter or integrate it into Facebook which would kill it anyway.

Apart from that, Facebook shareholders would likely not let Facebook buy twitter because twitter is currently toxic and they are losing in it as it is.

American companies are like that. They fire without notice and lock you out. Whether you're a full time staff or contract staff, your job is not secure, it doesn't matter whether you did something wrong or not, you can just come one day and the security man won't let you in.

Business-wise, you have to cut costs in order to increase profits.
Twitter has indeed struggled to make profits, so firing the workforce is expected, but critical members of the workforce have to be recalled.

He could also employ advanced
AI technologies to replace some human functions in order to reduce overhead cost, and increase profits.

A proper severance package is key for easing out part or all of a company's workforce based on country-specific employment laws.

About the blue tick, what is its significance? I'm not a regular Twitter user, so please don't mind me asking. I know it's a tick for those with some reputable social status, but could there be a reason to warrant adding a monetary charge for it? If users leverage on the popularity the blue tick attracts, to promote a financial venture or activity for their benefits, then I don't see why charging a fee to get a blue tick is a bad idea. It's the same way paid ads work.

Since the lay off included people from all over the world, then it signals a rebuild-from-scratch process -- a complete overhaul. Like I said, he's a renowned business man. That's enough to show that he's been at the helm of affairs for quite some time. Let's be rest assured that Twitter will take an almost completely new shape in a few months' time.

When a successful man takes a drastic action, then there's great thinking behind the scene. So yes, this was well thought-out.
