your situation is unfortunate but changeable.

1. I believe that you are not married. if you have a loving and understanding spouse and children, then you should not be lonely

2. about the your savings not up tp 20k for 3 years, You need to be listening to a radio program on AM 930 (CJCA the light) called the Ramsey show.
Dave Ramsey teaches about finances and investment and his show has been a blessing to me and my wife concerning our finances.

3. I don't know if you work in a specialized field or not But I would advise you to get licenses or what they call Tickets here. this would help you get better paying jobs .
Things like the PMP certificate ,P.Eng( Engineering license) , Vet license etc. requires you to write exams which cost a lot of money and requires a lot of sacrifices but the advantages are phenomenal. besides, getting occupied with these preparation will help you pass time and you wont have time to be feeling lonely.

4. Finally. Never joke with prayer. God is the doer of wonders and only he can make all your efforts
yield good result.
I really need the PMP, though I already manage projects, but mehn, its tough because I learn while working. I really need to have Agile, Scrum and PMP knowledge, those I found are just one group and my sister keeps telling me those things are easy, I should not waste money. I'm ready to spend upto $3k for courses next year, please recommend a good company for me

You know that the expectation going abroad is great that when you go and see it is not that rosy, you can't project it to your people down home

Why?

Because the expectation is high and no one will ever agree that you are having it tough. So most times what you see people enjoying and all that is them trying to project something to you down home. It's very tough in western world. You have all the basics like water, light, welfare etc and you can make some money and send home

But what many can't understand is lifestyle is totally different. I can relate to him not being able to talk to anyone. They are very independent here and lack community life. That's why they don't play with mental health. The whole system fu*ks up some individual head. Also hardship is of another form that you can't relate until you see it. The normal hardship will relate to is being not able to eat well, having no basic amenities etc. But in the western world they do have it but in another form not what you can relate to

This is in no way to discourag your pursuit of the greener pastures but sometimes it is good to have a better context of all these so that you won't come and start writing epistle like the OP or me...it is a different world out here but still pursue your dreams and know that you can never replace home

My expectation is not high bros....

I no wan born for this insane country...
Good medic care that is call away....
A country with low case ritual killing, baditry, religious nonsense....... shikena

..no doubt their health system is better than ours...can you afford to give 25% of your monthly salary as payment for compulsory health insurance every month ? ..weda you use hospital that month or not

You think God made Canada so ? People pay through their nose to make their country work, a thing most of you Nigerians cannot sacrifice to have a working system....

Yes, I will even pay more than that as long as I know I will have access to it anytime I need it. In Nigeria that you don't care about important things like that, how many of you can afford to even go to the clinic? You'd rather go to roadside pharmacy for drugs without diagnosis, hence the reason many die from self-medication and overdose.

Where in Canada? Certainly not Toronto!

If it’s Nigerian community you are after, they are everywhere. They won’t come find you in your house.

I worked in Canada, New York and London. In each of these locations I made friends and had/have an active social life. Get into an activity…

I work with an international organization in Nigeria. Left Canada few years back. And I will tell you now that while healthcare isn't really strong in Nigeria, you can have access to doctors, nurses and health centre easily more than you can in Canada. It's also cheap. Some people prefer to fly home for surgery because of the expense.

I'm also currently in Canada for a conference. Need I tell you I can't even wait to leave already by next week.
u come to naija and use 5star private hospital on ur company expense u think that's how everybody enjoy it

They are regretting because they went without proper planning. And for you to have such irresponsible and useless friends says a lot about your personality also. Stop keeping useless people as friends and acquaintances and see yourself grow!

You and your colleagues are the ones with slave mentality.

End of discussion.

You'd be shocked to find out the idiot is codedly asking his mates or finding a way to join the with the hopes that his case would be different which as a matter of fact is why everyone should be allowed to do their thing their way legally.

The irony of everything is that, the people that never had other countries experience are the one that will be advising the people facing the challenges abroad.people can’t understand the meaning of slavery until u find urself in a situation that is similar. And this reminds me that the people that always fighting for better Nigeria mostly are the ones in abroad, we need to ask why? Simply because they have seen other side of the coin

Lol, asides the fact that people who japaed look so fresh in their pictures and have access to standard amenities and a clean environment, the strong currency etc.. I agree japaing isn't for everyone more especially for people who just jumped on the japa train because that's what everyone is doing now without considering factors like their purpose, their personality types, how diligent they are etc.

I know of people who only changed states within Nigeria, and they feel lonely, in a country like Nigeria where everyone is in your business, just imagine these types are miles away in a western country where nobody minds your business.

THE FOOLISHNESS OF YOU NIGERIANS IS YOUR MENTALITY TO THINK AND BELIEVE THAT ONCE YOU REACH THAT ABROAD YOU WILL MAKE IT AND BE SWIMMING IN MONEY

IT TAKES GRACE TO MAKE IT ABROAD

YES YOU WILL BE CONFORTABLE SO LONG AS YOU GOT AN INCOME AND ACCESS TO CREDIT

THE QUESTION YOU NIGERIANS FAIL TO ASK YOURSELVES IN THAT YOUR FLAT BRAIN IS THAT IF ABROAD IS SO FANTASTIC AND EASY AS YOU ALL BELIEVE THEN WHY DO THEY HAVE FULL BLOODED NATIVE CITIZENS HOMELESS IN THAT ABROAD?

WEATHER... INFRASTRUCTURES.... TECHNOLOGIES....ABROAD ENVIRONMENT IS WHAT FASCINATES YOU ALL WHEN YOU GO ABROAD WHICH CLOUDS YOUR BRAIN.....BUT TRUST ME....AFTER SPENDING JUST OVER 2 YEARS ABROAD ....YOU WILL WAKE UP ONE DAY AND YOUR EYES WILL ADJUST TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND EVERYTHING YOU SEE AND THE ABROAD ENVIRONNEMENT THAT FASCINATED YOU WILL LOOK JUST THE WAY YOU SEE 9JA

IF YOU BELIEVE AM TALKING TRASH...ANY NIGERIAN WHO HAS BEEN AWAY FROM NIGERIA FOR A LONG TIME KNOWS WHAT AM TALKING ABOUT ...HOW YOU COME BACK TO NIGERIA AND EVERYTHING JUST SEEMS FASCINATING

I personally asked to be moved to Canada when there was an opening. I can't wait to go next year March when the new office opens.
From my two weeks visit during my training stint in the US, Canada doesn't seem like a lonely place. Maybe because I feel very comfortable in my own company.

Exactly! I've never seen anyone thst migrated legally with proper planning regret it. Many Nigerians keep useless friends thst knows nothing about migration but eager to pay agent for the processing, thereby reaching there and start lamenting after selling their cars and properties.

Earlier this year, I went back in time to few years back when I was doing so well in Nigeria. The noises from friends and all nurtured the decision to move abroad inside of me. I became so restless till I finally leave. The first day in Canada was the day I knew this place isn't where I can be forever. Most of us would have come back before the time we had in mind except for the fact that I don't still have enough. If I want to travel to naija for vacation now, I will need up to $4k. If I take that away from my savings, I don't know how I can recover.

No one tells about the downside of this place. I feel lonely, depressed and empty most times. Because no one to talk to, just everyone in my workplace goin about their business. If I make attempt to talk to them, they just waive it with a smile. It's been 3years here and the people I still talk to on video call are friends from Nigeria. It's been 3years and my savings is still Short of $20k despite how much my friends in Nigeria do tell me how easy it is for me to make money abroad but I never tell them my situation. I can't wait to make enough and leave Canada for good. I know a lot will come at me with the usuall "come back to Nigeria na", please this is not an attempt to denigrate your abroad heaven, just for me to rant out and be fine
$4,000 for vacation to Nigeria? Unless you are coming to lock yourself inside a room. lol. You will need at least $10,000 including ticket for a quiet vacation.

You said Buhari will die of heart attack in Nigeria. That's what I pointed out as wrong. If you have the kind of resources of a Buhari, there's no reason you'll want to migrate to Canada or any Western nation.
That's my point. Not how many can afford good hospitals or not.

Dude, even if you have slurry speech or any signs if stroke, if you get medical care immediately, there's higher probability the impact will be low. Now, if your governor should have such case, he will likely end up become useless because it will take long before getting to the clinic!

Gov. Akeredolu was being treated for malaria meanwhile he had COVID, that's how bad the health sector is! If the pandemic was not a global issue, Abba Kyari and many of the elites would have fled the country for better healthcare, including your Buhari.

I somehow always think cheap things don't have value. I was thinking of Udemy, but my mind keeps telling me it wont be good. I think i need to change that mentality. But i wanna invest in myself next year. I got a very big apartment, that learning would be very comfortable. I work from home,so please let me know if you have other suggestions. Some of us who came back after our studies will remain grateful forever. I remember in 2004 when I arrived in Newyork, JFK. It was like an earthly paradise. I left JFK for Jamaica via Sutfin Builevard by train where I went to catch Grey Hounds to my school, upstate. The day I was coming back, those naijas there using people's sola-sola to work thought they had reached their fair haven. Today...looking back, all I can say is thank God. I've been to US several times since I came back. I remember a day i told one of them who chose to stay , how much I spent building my house...the best in the estate. He was like, where did you get that kind of money from? I work for my money and I own a legit business.

Go there, tap opportunities and come back home and utilise it. Nigeria is hot cake for investments. Indians and Chinese would come here with a luggage and a pair of shoes but return home millionaires in dollars. Common!

Op to me, I think you travelled to the abroad blindly , that's why you're feeling the way you're feeling.

You expected too much from your destination country. Your expectations were just too high from the get go.

You believed it was all heaven on earth travelling out and when you don't get to have that heavenly feeling, you blame it on the Said country that granted you the opportunity of seeing beyond the shore of your mother's land.

Your reason for traveling was too trivia, I must tell you. If it was just to get away from the too much noises you claimed, you should have relocated to a much more quiet city in Nigeria like Uyo and Abuja and still achieve your desire of wanting to get away from the too much noises.

This is to me a missed priority. Your priority was not right from the get go.

You will be surprised that other people that had more serious reasons for travelling to that same Canada are enjoying that same Canada cuz they had more top-notch reasons for relocating order than just wanting to get away from the too much noises in Nigeria.

But just before you plan coming back to Nigeria, try and get your citizenship first. Don't make the mistake of rushing back to Nigeria only for you to get here and feeling Nostalgia and start thinking of going back again. We have seen many like that who hastily come back to Nigeria and started regretting all over again why they came back.

If you come back hastily without having your CANADA passport first, you will have yourself to blame.

Do the needful and stay back till you become a citizen. I believe it only takes 4yrs starting from the day you landed in the country.

A word is enough for the for the wise.
