REFUTAL OF A DEFAMATORY PUBLICATION ALLEGEDLY SPONSORED BY A CERTAIN BARR. CHURCHILL OKEDU WECHIE AGAINST AN INNOCENT WIDOW MRS. REGINA NYEKPUNWO WECHIE AND HER CHILDREN: CHITURU, NYEBUCHI, LIVINGSTONE AND ORONNE_ 
 
 *RE: A WITCH WOMAN CONFESSES IN PORT HARCOURT" and "TRUE LIFE CONFESSION OF A WITCH WOMAN
 
THIS REFUTAL IS WITHOUT PREJUDICE AND NOT A COUNTER-BLACKMAIL
 
1. The attention of my family has been drawn to a malicious and defamatory publication believed to be sponsored by one Barr. Churchill Okedu Wechie of Rumuihunwo-Orogbu Community in Nkpolu-Oroworukwo Town Rebisi Port Harcourt. The said publication titled "A WITCH WOMAN CONFESSES IN PORT HARCOURT" and "TRUE LIFE CONFESSION OF A WITCH WOMAN" on Facebook and blogs respectively has been trending on social media platforms across the world putting my family in serious reputation damage and public ridicule. As a caveat, I chose to do this refutal at this time after the false publication so I could conclude with the relevant agencies and their investigations as well as my personal findings. The concocted and fabricated story which is published on several online platforms, blogs including Nairaland, gidileak.com, eternityrace.com etc and some YouTube automated audio files dubiously alleges and claims that my precious mother, Mrs. Regina Nyekpunwo Wechie (Née Amadi) Confessed among other things to killing our late father Late Prince Emma Nyekazi Wechie who died in 2011.
 
2. For the records, the self-confessed author and undeniable sponsor of this blackmail, Barr. Churchill Wechie sadly is my step brother. After our father died in 2011, he (Churchill Wechie) turned against my mother's kitchen (household). He started by accusing us from the blues that myself and my immediate elder brother Rev Prince Nyebuchi Wechie refused to join in carrying our late father's body insinuating that we were avoiding the body. This was quite insane because our father died in my arms and I was alone with him in the hospital when he took his last breath at St Patrick’s Hospital in Port Harcourt. There were occasions where I had heated confrontations with Churchill because of the extra medical services he administered on our father for whatever reasons without the Doctor's knowledge and I protested to the Doctor but it was too late into our father's critical condition. Our father’s third wife also had similar encounters with Churchill on same issue, that is if she will be honest enough to admit again at this time. His hostility towards us was very suspicious and unwarranted because he was not even there when our father died and I had to be the one to call and informed him on that fateful day on November 15, 2011. Throughout our father's admission at the hospitals, Churchill Wechie never passed a night or ever bathed him. I had to do that or my immediate elder brother with whom I ran a shift for the entire 28 days of his admission at the hospital. Few days after our bereavement, Churchill further made good his aggression and violence by personally demolishing my mother's house and fence in the Community boasting that as a Lawyer, he will fight us to a standstill and nothing will happen. These are undisputed facts and public knowledge because they were subjects of litigation.
This story was widely reported by the news houses including Africa Independent Television and Rivers State Television at the time and he always avoided the media who investigated the matter as it affects the widow. This matter lingered up to the funeral service held at the St. Thomas Anglican Church in Port Harcourt and beyond. 
 
3. There was heated crisis in the family instigated by Churchill Wechie and he was ready to kill or go after anyone who tried to call him to order or intervene. These resulted in my petitioning the Inspector General of Police against Churchill Wechie whom I officially in that petition accused of the Murder of our father and malicious damage etc at the time. He was arrested and investigated for the allegations by the Nigerian Police Force. He was injecting our father with suspected insulin or substance best known to him while our father was on admission not being a medical practitioner nor the doctor in-charge of our father's treatment. Our father had diabetic foot ulcer which was one of his primary health conditions. I was convinced that Churchill had overdosed him with mixtures that he can best explain even though he compromised the police from conducting an autopsy including other aspects of the investigation. My father was first admitted at Chijiman Hospital in Diobu Port Harcourt before he was referred to St. Patrick's Hospital along Eastern bypass all in Port Harcourt in 2011. Without any prejudice to the Police, these were facts contained in my petitions at the time. As a matter of fact, Churchill Wechie as a legal practitioner in one of his suits against us and the Nigerian Police Force before the Federal High Court admitted that he bribed the Police with one hundred thousand Naira as cited in the process as widely reported at the time. 
 
4. The issues escalated as Barr. Churchill Wechie ignored all interventions by our community, family and senior friends who sued for peace. Churchill Wechie filed multiple suits in Court against my mother myself and my siblings and boasted that he will suffocate my mother's household until we vacate the family. Among some of the suits were the one challenging my mother's statutory marriage with our late father which he (Barr. Churchill Wechie) was present and signed as witness for our late father few years before he died. The other was the one he filed at the Customary Court challenging the Customary marriage between our father and mother. He raised issues concerning our paternity and challenged our legitimacy in those suits. A substantial amount of the content of the defamatory publication are things Churchill Wechie has always used and said against us including during the arbitration on record. It was indeed a trying period for my family but we had to courageously confront the monster and prevailed over him to his knees. I must clearly state that my mother has never been a materialistic person never drawn by or enticed by glamour or wealth as Churchill mischievously made her look in his award-winning fabrication. She was a trained professional Teacher for thirty-five years and retired meritoriously. She implanted that virtue of contentment in all her children and it was possibly the envy of our upbringing and strides that is running Barr. Churchill Okedu Wechie into the realm of irredeemable insanity and lifetime craft of evil and this is not surprising.
 
5. May I state for the records that we (my mother and all her children) grew in our maternal home in Mgbuoshimini Oro-Akwor Community in Rumueme kingdom, Rivers state and bore our maternal surname "Amadi" for most part of our lives and proudly so. We were fully integrated, accommodated and given every right, privileges and entitlements as legitimate and bonafide members of the Community until few years before our father's death. Our father had come to my mother escorted by this same Churchill Wechie and some elders to beg for our return to his family in Rumuihunwo-Orogbu Community Nkpolu-Oroworukwo Town. My maternal home Mgbuoshimini Oro-Akwor Community Rumueme kingdom resisted his advances and Churchill Wechie joined on bended knees to strongly appeal because our father felt the need to reconcile his divided family which was fast depleting from his end. One of the conditions my mother and her Elder sister Dame Julie Owhonda gave was that apart from the full traditional rights done at the time of their Customary marriage in the 70s, that to better guarantee the protection of my mother and her children that my father Late Prince Emma Nyekazi Wechie must have a registry marriage with my mother and that Churchill Wechie must sign as his witness to show their sincerity as if they foresaw the future. All of those conditions were accepted, implemented and fully complied with. Churchill Wechie signed as our father’s witness and Obio-Akpor marriage registry in Rivers State where the marriage took place is there for anyone to confirm. This was because Churchill's late mother Mrs. Fyner Baby Wechie who died sometimes in 1996 or thereabout, during her lifetime, always threatened our mother's marriage with our father violently with physical attacks and same hostility was extended to us and this is common knowledge within the community and beyond. 
 
6. Incidentally when Churchill Wechie started his onslaught against my mother and all of us her children after our father's death, he took various life-threatening steps to undermine us. In response, I was compelled to preempt him by going ahead to defend my mother's house and bring him to justice through lawful means. At this point, Churchill had become a loose cannon and nobody could caution or call him to order as he had also sued our Paramount ruler and others who sought to intervene. One of the steps I took with the consent of my siblings including Rev. Prince Nyebuchi Wechie was a petition to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) under the Presidency of Okey Wali SAN at the time. A panel was constituted and Parties were invited. It was at this point that the "almighty" Churchill Wechie seeing that his practicing license was at stake, ran frantically and desperately ran to an Elite group "Club 12" of Nkpolu-Oroworukwo Town of which our late father was a member in his lifetime for an alternative resolution of the dispute. On our own part, we reluctantly consented to their intervention even though we were never interested in what Churchill wanted to die for, which was “properties” of a dead mad or to put it, another man’s sweat. This was because he had defied all appeals from senior citizens of the Community, our Paramount ruler Eze Emeka Anyabelem, Elders, Judges, senior lawyers in the open Court who whenever our multiple suits were mentioned will rise in various Courts as amicus to urge him to settle with his family. Sometimes Judges who presided over the various cases he filed against us will advise him openly to settle with his brothers but he will always rise in his miserable pride and opposition to declare "Over my dead body, I don't know them".
 
 
ON THE PUBLICATION AND CHURCHILL’S ADMISSION/CULPABILITY
7. In the course of the Club 12 hearing after they got the permission of the Court, we came across the malicious publication online for the first time in that 2012 where our mother was maliciously blackmailed and all of us thoroughly defamed. In that false publication, it was criminally and fraudulently alleged that my beloved mother who had just been widowed confessed that she was a Witch, that she killed our father, killed his other children from the first wife and that to sustain her "Witchcraft Voodoo powers alive, that she had incestuous affairs with myself among many other horrifying and lethal allegations. These included the spurious and demonic claim that my mother was sexually irresponsible to the extent that she “got pregnant for all of us with a certain Monday Chinda” whom he (Churchill Wechie) fabricated. Interestingly, Churchill advanced most of the content of the said publication in his argument during the arbitration craftily where he wickedly alleged that this so-called Monday Chinda is our biological father just to question our legitimacy and identity.
On record, during the arbitration, I openly brought to the attention of Club 12 Panel the said publication and I directly accused Churchill Wechie who was present, of authoring and sponsoring the damaging fraudulent story which he never denied on record and this is not in dispute. When asked to respond, Churchill Wechie boastfully admitted before the panel that he deliberately authored and sponsored the publication online because according to him, he did that in retaliation to my petition the Inspector General of Police accusing him (Churchill) of the murdering our father. The Club 12 panel chaired by Alhaji Abubakar Orlu immediately reprimanded him and unanimously directed Churchill Wechie to quickly delete the publication from the Internet in the interest of peace. They further told him that he had gone too far overboard. We have witnesses who were present and are ready to confirm this record because it was terribly untoward and awful to say the least. As a matter of fact, Churchill Wechie when confronted with this publication during one of our sessions at Rumu-Ihunwo Orogbu investigative hearings over his numerous questionable actions, openly admitted responsibility and stood his grounds. Our community leadership is there to confirm this and it is not in dispute. Barr. Churchill Wechie has never denied being responsible for the publication. However, we expected that he did comply with the directive of Club 12 and our community leadership respectively to delete, knowing the grave legal consequences as an acclaimed lawyer; not knowing that he mischievously left some online just as he contemptuously defied brazenly most of our terms of settlement as contained in the judgement order on record, only to sponsor this blackmail to trend again online against us at this time.
 
 
8. A strange and abominable incident took place on the day of our father's funeral. Immediately our late father was laid in state at the family house and the immediate family was called in by the Elders as the tradition demands, we were asked to make an oration in line with tradition to pay our last respect. I and my elder brother Rev. Prince Nyebuchi Wechie prayed for the repose of his soul and everyone said Amen. When it was Churchill Wechie's turn, he placed his hands directly on our father's body, started making some strange incantation and invocations against me and my mother's kitchen and told the spirit of our late father to hunt us that we were strangers according to him, brought to destroy the family. The Elders and our Rumu-ihunwo-Orogbu community present, found his act offensive, sacrilegious and a taboo resulting in the imposition of a fine on him for that singular devilish act. The Community constituted and summoned Churchill Wechie later at the time over the desecration of the land following that act. After the hearing, he Barr. Churchill Okedu Wechie was fined One Cow, forty tubers of yam, One Jar of Palm wine, Palm Oil and other things involved. He was also told that he must commit to the traditional cleansing of the land for desecration it by placing his hands on the body of our late father to make such invocations. Churchill Wechie did not comply with these resolutions reached by the Community led by Eze Emeka Anyabelem the Paramount head of Rumuihunwo-Orogbu Community till today. Churchill Wechie instead filed an action in Court against the Paramount head of Rumuihunwo-Orogbu Community whose subject Churchill Wechie is. He sued the Police whom we had reported to, sued late Eze Charles Olawoka of Oromerezimgbu Community in Port Harcourt, myself, my elder brother among others. Our community made a proclamation that if Churchill Okedu Wechie failed to pay the fine and carry out the traditional ritual of cleansing that he remains ostracized and shall not participate in the Community/family activities or benefit whatsoever in line with our traditional as applicable in Ikwerre land. Also during the burial ceremony, this same Churchill ordered and sponsored some miscreants led by a certain Irobulachi otherwise nicknamed Kento to attack and seized the Video Camera we rented and physically assaulted the camera man hired to cover the funeral for us. 
 
9. We moved on with the rest of the arbitration and concluded. Terms of settlement were reported to the Courts, Police and Nigerian Bar Association etc. Everything touching on property which was Churchill Wechie's undying life ambition and core interest unknown to us was resolved as he was at his own dictates allocated over eighty percent of all our father's properties and we did not bother about the properties of the late man if that will make poor Barr. Churchill Wechie to become rich. It was so pathetic for Churchill Wechie the fact that he insisted that the property on Cherubim road Nkpolu Oroworukwo that our father in his lifetime to the knowledge of Churchill allocated to my mother as her own that Churchill demanded that the property must be divided into two to his own benefit and we allowed it for peace to reign so he can be happy. This was just to help railroad the poor Barr. Churchill Okedu Wechie to actualize his wildest dream to feel like the Napoleon that he always wanted to be over the properties of our late father in the village. Yet Churchill is still diabolically restless because to him our mother must not live. MIRACULOUSLY, HE HAS CONTINUED TO FAIL!
 
WHY WE LIVED AND BORE OUR MATERNAL SURNAME
10. May I clearly put on record for purposes of emphasis, that we were quietly living our lives with our mother in Rumueme and bore our maternal surname proudly without any hard feelings when this so-called Barr. Churchill Okedu Wechie came with our father to beg my mother on bended knees to bring us back to his family. An incident sometimes about 1982 on record was when Churchill's mother Late Mrs. Baby Fyner Wechie transported herself down to my maternal Community, Mgbuoshimini Oro-Akwor in Rumueme kingdom, came straight to my mother's house and destroyed the windscreen of our father's brand-new Peugeot vehicle which he had just bought during that period and almost set it on fire but for the timely intervention of neighbours. We barely visited our father's house because Churchill's mother was always threatening to either poison us or bath us with acid, and so as kids, we avoided her like we avoided Satan. This was the same attitude her late daughter Cynthia took up against us but our mother never reacted to their hostilities because that was beneath her dignity. Our Community Rumuihunwo-Orogbu and indeed Nkpolu-Oroworukwo can attest to these facts because many of them were branded her enemies for cautioning her including some of her blood relatives. This was the main reason my mother and her family at the time decided that it was unsafe for my mother to cohabit with our late father in his family house in Nkpolu-Oroworukwo for her own safety and that of her children. My mother had no hands whatsoever in what killed his mother and siblings as Churchill wickedly painted in his sponsored shameless false publication. Is it not curious that a woman and her children that you have so brazenly accused of many unsubstantiated things that you joined and begged for her return along with her already established children? He alone (Churchill Wechie) knows what killed his mother and siblings and he should tell the world. He should also open up to the world why his immediate younger brother Brignt Anya Wechie ran from him to London for more than twenty years and has scarcely returned since that period for the fear of his life in the hands of Churchill Wechie.
