I went to "family house" to reconnect with my neighbours and barb my hair. My barber didn't come in time though the salon was open as early as 8. Other barbers were already at work; but you know the thing with a black man, once he gets a good barber, it's for life (or so it seems at most).

Took a blunt (will quit smoking this year), ate breakfast with my old neighbours, then went to work.

Before church, I went down back to the mainland, to trim my beards as I couldn't do that the previous day. While I waited my turn, my neighbour of 22 years, Elder, (God rest his soul), came around.

All our adugbo Bro started teasing him amid heavy laughter (he was loved by all)
"Elder your mama n papa don go morning mass, second mass go start laidis, you no dey go church?

"Elder: As I dey here so, holy spirit dey my body. I be temple laidis, make una no worry.

Immediately he set his eyes on me, he screamed in delight, asked about my family n promised not to leave me unless I do Sunday for him.

Since I have a policy of giving people only what I take ( I don't drink, plus he doesn't roll a joint), I opted to buy him anything else he wanted to eat.

Na so Elder carry me, enter "family house", from fried meats, to indomie to pepper soup, Elder had his fill. Though I didn't know when he took one Budweiser.
He has a thing with drinks. He took one too many after that I guess. I left around evening.

Monday morning woke me up to a draw I won on sports betting that netted me 38k (Argentina Jnr vs Huracen), I went to work late though n dropped by at a warehouse close to my previous home later at noon.

At the warehouse, towards the side where they offload fridges, I saw my manchi, Bro Elder, with his Bongo White trousers n shoes with his worn out suit top. I just greet am dodge, so he doesn't bill me like the Sunday that just finished yesterday. He was saying something about people not remembering him to give him driving jobs. That it was only when we need something that we remember people.

This was around after 1to 2.

Finally got home around 11 pm. As I laid to rest after freshening up, my younger sister screamed from her phone that "brother, my friend say brother elder af die"

Elder died at Ojodu Berger, same day at about to 9 in the morning, from a truck that lost its brakes. About four people died on the spot.

He was literally mangled with his insides strewn over the road among the wreckage.

WITH THE SAME CLOTHES I SAW HIM IN DURING 1-2PM!!

Few days, before he was laid to rest, I had a very very vivid dream (if it's truly a dream),

He was angry, called me by my first name and said "Uchechukwu, I no happy. I dey vex". I was glad to see him while muttering "Bro Elder, no vex" till I woke up.

This world has another dimension than what our senses n science defines n shows us.

This made me to remember my friend's death in 2014. Oh Chidosky may your soul continue to rest in peace.
I remember the last moment I saw him, d day I was relocating to another state to find a greener pastures. I met him on the road and he was like " Edu na going be dis nah, when u go come back?" I never knew it was the moment I would see my good friend on this earth. Really this life is very mysterious, till today I can't still forget my friend, all the good memories we shared together still fresh in my memory. On that particular 2014 that I received a very ugly and sad call from my sister that my friend is gone. I ran mad in tears and even I'm still shedding tears as I'm typing this texts. I always see him in my dreams. My happiness is that the man that killed him has also kicked his own bucket. Continue to rest in peace my bossom friend

A lady in my street died in the morning hours but people(confirmed) saw her in the afternoon at off-points which prompted questions of her not been at the shop but they were snubbed.
The Mum at the village said she came back home same day, passed her without a word into the house and afterward was no where to be found.

It was the talk of the neighbourhood till he laid to rest. No one knew he died till 4pm when they received call from The Police station at Berger to come identify his body. It was like a
Bad joke. Someone they were with not quite long ago.

Unfortunately he had no means of identification on him at the time of death, hence the delay in the unfortunate news to us.

They were among the people who drove to Berger to identify his remains. They even argued with the popo that they were with him this afternoon. Only to be told he died with 4 other people around 9am.

Me that even saw him self during noon, hmmm.

Let those memories stay buried.

I dedicate this post to all who passed away painfully this year.

My guy wetin dey vex me be all these butter pikin wet dey form "too-know" saying it's a lie. Nothing of such happens.
I have seen such twice and I have got friends and family members who have seen such live!

There was this woman we use to call mummy Skippy when we were young. She had a beautiful hairy dog called Skippy. She used to send us errands and we used to be glad to run errands for her because that guaranteed us entry to her living room to watch television in those days when only one person or no one would have Blacknwhite tv in a whole compound.
In the 90s I was standing at the bus stop waiting for a cab. She stood before me waiting for a bus also. I should have greeted her but I don't know why my spirit said I should not. One strange thing was she had her legs full of dust like someone who had walked a mile. She was among the middle class of that time so she should not have looked that way.
Some weeks later I met one of our childhood friends and I just said, "I even saw mummy Skippy some weeks back,". He looked at me strangely and said someone who is dead. I told him I saw her and he mintained she had died for almost a year.
About a month or so, my mum was sick and I escorted her to the hospital. We saw the daughter who is a nurse and I told my mum to ask her about the mother. And she said, "mama has died almost a year now,"

This life is beyond Science.
But all this kids forming smart won't believe. They want to witness it themselves before they believe. And you know the devil? He may not allow them to witness it because many that are saying there is no God could from that experience believe in God. And he doesn't want that.
