During the Rivers State PDP Dedication Service for Campaign Ahead 2023 Elections, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, stated that most people needed to ask questions based on this coming election, especially in terms of the selection of president coming in 2023.

Wike stated that Nigerians say the Muslim-Muslim ticket is wrong, but they want the presidency to remain in one zone. He further stated that if the Muslim-Muslim ticket is wrong, then the selection of a president from the same zone as President Muhammadu Buhari is wrong.

According to him, "You say Nigeria is not right for the Muslim Muslim ticket;, but Nigeria is right for the presidency to remain in one zone." I mean, just look at the insult. You blow hot and cold. That is why Nigerians say it is wrong for the presidency to remain in one zone. Most people just sit there without asking questions. Somebody is coming to serve these cheap ideas. You want Nigerians to pick a president from the same zone where Buhari is coming from."
