One thing that may have driven Buhari to not treat the Igbo to all the big names appointments is probably that it may not achieve the desired result. It can be seen how a lit of Igbo made hating the man and his administration a duty, I doubt if an army or police chief position would have changed that.

There are quite a number of igbos in thus admin, some had their big breaks thanks to Buhari but still their people are not keen on acknowledging the president or what he's done.

After killing thousands of Igbos (the killings are still going on), you think the Bridge will wash such innocent blood away?!

He deserves the applause for the Bridge but that does not, in any way, absolve him of Igbophobia.

You have started crying again, when will you stop. Because I know the crying will increase when Jagaban is declared president.

why do we vote leaders into office, if it's not to do the bidding of the people? So if buhari builds a bridge, the people should start rolling on the floor as if they don't deserve it? We in this part of the world make leaders feel as if they're doing us a favour by making the common basic amenities we're entitled to look as a gift.
if they don't deserve to be commended for what they have done, why do we criticize them for failing to do them?

Why do we vote them back on their scorecard?

You went to school to graduate with a first class and you did graduate with a first class, why should you be awarded scholarships or celebrated?

You think by being elected to do it, it's that simple - you need to find a way to do it even when it appears impossible or there is no funding to. That's where leadership comes in. That's what they're being praised for. Leaders are the causes of every problem in your life, but they should not be praised when they get something right. Hypocrite!

You people truncate your own line of thought.

Oweto bridge is longer than niger bridge. It was built and commissioned without funfair and noise. What makes niger bridge so important that everytime, everyday people keep making noise about it.

I still can't believe this bridge is now finished and fully functional... All year, whenever news was reported on the progress of construction on site, there were always people on here saying they lived close to the bridge and that no work was being done, that it was all a lie. cheesy

Are Igbos not Nigerians?
Which one is "buhari's gift to Igbos"?
Is building a bridge in the south eastern part of the country supposed to be this Celebrated?

Ebele Azikiwe did nothing for ipob land but mumu afghaneasterns will still be masturbating over the mention of his name. A man that went to the heart of alaigbo to scam ndigbo with a vow to go into exile if he didn't complete the 2nd Niger bridge! He didn't even so much as start the construction of the bridge, much less complete it, but despite the scam those mumus still lick his ass. No be only the best president Nigeria ever had...!

Buhari for 8 years completed GEJ projects, he had no project of his own.

All the project were started by GEJ and would have been completed in 4 years

I don't understand this post. Goodluck was President for 6 years. He was the first person to take this project serious. He awarded the project and gave down payment for the project and the project kicked off only for him to be kicked out with the help of America and other superpowers. Buhari came in and started playing politics with it and delayed the project for 8 years even though the project was projected for a few years to complete under the previous contract. How much did Buhari pay for this project? Nigerians will be the one to pay for the project eventually. Buhari has zero credit on this project if you ask me

The article stated on a wrong note;

"This week's column explores the complicated dynamic between the Buhari regime's seeming Igbophobia and its praiseworthy completion of a major project that is dear to the hearts of Igbos, which GEJ's "Igbo-friendly" gov.t had ignored and lied about"

How much project can you complete when you are being fought from all sides.....would the NASS had allowed Jonathan to borrow everyday and triple Nigeria's debt? Do you know how much delays the NASS instigated passing Budget under GEJ?
How much can u do with all those distractions like bring back our girls, governors forum and the rest?

Would the govt be able to have free money when we insist that fuel must sell at N87 per litre even when oil price is very high? Did we not almost closed down the country when Jonathan insisted on removing the subsidy in 2012?

Would this bridge exonerate the profound hardship brought about by this govt policies i.e debt tripled, Naira slide from N183 to N750, the highest decline in the history of this country?

Would the one-sidedness of the appointments that has generated much schism be explained by this bridge?

Would the many massacres by herdsmen, bandits and other be rationalised by this bridge?

Kperogi you fall hand for this write up sha
