Any idea on the distance from the router device before the WiFi starts to flicker and then disconnects due to long distance?

This one want to use it for business. grin
Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by fineboynl(m): 2:06pm On Jan 31, 2023
Lol. The router should have been rechargeable battery powered?

As it is with power cable. I will not touch it due to power problem in this part of the world. Assumed it can run even if there is no power it would have made more sense.

Starlink should have considered Africa and make it rechargeable battery powered.

Wifi.com offers a better deal equipment wise and price wise but if starlink allows for payment in naira it will be good bank rate. $600 and not even 2 months subscription included

If you subscribe 32k data on mtn every month, you can't finish it in a month.
So it's more or less unlimited.

Plus other benefits you will get on calls.

Elon musk is a scam.

The only issue here is just the equipment which is still affordable. You can use this everywhere on earth. Just save for it. Security wise and encryption na top notch

150k for 1.5Tb and you get 2.5tb added bonus (if you are making the first subscription)

What rubbish hynet, it is a big scam. No one should go for the scam. I transfered money to my hynet acct to reactivate my data , only to find out my money has disappeared.
From customercare story to story . Till date no refund. I port back to spectranet immediately.

MTN na scam, speed was slow and annoying and always finishes before expiring.

lol 160GB for 30k mtn I will finish it under 5 days. I remember in 2013 using glo with HSPA speed I used 62GB in 2 weeks. Not to talk of now we have 4G and I download at 7mb/sec. I stream 720p match for 4gigabyte. 160gb is too small.MTN are ripping us.

To fund it, take dollars to the bank to deposit into the card. You can get dollars from any aboki near you

There is nothing wrong with the screenshot. In fact, one can get better speed in some areas were 5G coverage is very good.

Below is a speedtest I just did now.
I carried out this test using a Xiaomi Poco f4. You might get better speed on other devices with better modem and antenna.
lol look at Airtel here.

Unreliable internet has always been an issue for me in Lagos. The best Internet Service Providers use Fibre Optics but have very limited coverage areas. So when I heard Starlink would be rolling out their Low Orbit internet service in Africa, It Immediately piqued my Interest.

I made a preorder for the service in May of 2021 with a refundable deposit of $99. I did this due to the projected rollout of the service by the end of 2021. I did not get any update from Starlink until early december of 2022. I was told to pay up a balance of $501 so my exquipment would be shipped.

8 days after making full payment, my Starlink Equipment was delivered to me by DHL. It is a plug and play device that is easy to install by following very simple steps on the manual. I mounted the dish on my compound, at a postion with good sky visibility and the device connected to an available Satellite within a few minutes.

My Internet experience is now the best I have ever had it, here in Nigeria.

Total cost of Equipment $600
Monthly Subscription for Unlimited Internet $43

Please I have many questions. How did you exceed the $20 monthly limit when using Nigerian ATM cards? If you didn't use Nigerian ATM card to pay, how did you pay for the starlink kit and subscription in USD? Also can you test online gaming using starlink internet and see if it's smooth. I use Airtel to play online games. Sometimes it's smooth but most times, it lags.
What is the average latency like? I can see 60ms from the picture you posted. Is it always around 60ms?

If it's priced in dollars then you pay in dollars using a domiciliary account.

its very easy talk to people in your street tech friends etc, i and 4 other roommates are sharing 3mbps speed and we stream Netflix on 720p.... up to 2 or 3 streets can share one starlink which is the main joy.... infact most universities in Nigeria wont need more than 5

How many universities have a population of 128×5 people?

Also a lot many people seeking to buy it adds to the $/N pressure. Which would increase the 600$ equivalent in Naira for many.

it's also Immobile. Not an on the go device.

Am using 5G at a very cheaper rate. Why are this guys always scamming Africa?

I subscribe $30 monthly with free (unlimited) calls, SMS and MMS nation wide.

You can literally make calls free with streets free phone booths but my people still pays for every seconds of their calls.
Exactly, I sub £18 monthly with unlimited calls, SMS and MMS nationwide. I pay only £2 additional to use my data in Europe. These people are milking us in NIGERIA.

The fact you can mount the starlink and use it in the remote places is a huge W. I already place an order for my Dad.

how will you get MTN unlimited data for $43 per month? To me, starlink remains the best internet option in Nigeria if Elon musk will allow us to pay in Naira at bank exchange rate. I currently use Airtel 4g router data plan which offers 200gb for 20,000 Naira monthly. If you exhaust your 200gb before the month ends, you will receive 10gb data daily till the month ends. Airtel internet speed is 48mbps(6MB/s) where I reside and is unstable because sometimes I have drop outs that lasts up to an hour. With starlink internet, you get true monthly unlimited stable internet with average speed of 100mbps(12.5MB/s) for $43(approximately 20k using bank exchange rate) per month. The only problem with starlink internet is the high cost of the starlink kit($600) and mainly the fact you can't pay in naira

FiberOne to me remains the best internet service in Nigeria. The only issue is there coverage, they need to expand more.

Unlimited data plan for just N11,500 with good speed isn't bad
Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by Nolevel666: 2:48pm On Jan 31, 2023

Elon musk will eventually reduce it. There is no way we and USA/UK people are expected to pay same $600 starlink kit price while Jamaicans pay $393(60,500 JMD). Nigeria is the only country where you cannot pay for starlink using the local currency(Naira). That's kinda embarrassing

Na to find person for that side send am money thru western union make him waybill am be that.

Too expensive as at the current rates
