The Houthis said they successfully hit another American merchant ship off the coast of Yemen with a ballistic anti-ship missile this morning. The extent of the damage is still unknown. Also, with the help of a large group of drones, 2 American destroyers were attacked. Whether there were any hits is unknown. The attack itself is a confirmation of the Houthi leader's statements yesterday that they will not be afraid and will not back down in their attacks on the US, Britain and Israel. According to statements in the American media, members of the crew almost certainly died. Who exactly was in the destroyed complexes is not specified. German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has notified Chancellor Olaf Scholz of a €4.5-6 billion shortfall in the defence budget So far, €52bn is allocated for the Bundeswehr for 2025, and this amount needs to be increased in order to comply with the NATO requirement. The German Finance Ministry proposed to make up the shortfall in funding by cutting social benefits. However, this option was rejected by Olaf Scholz.

NATO is divided. Italy has taken umbrage at French and Polish plans to send troops to Ukraine. Paris and Warsaw cannot talk about sending forces to Ukraine on behalf of the entire alliance. This was pointed out by the head of the Italian defence ministry, Guido Crozetto. The AFU's defences have been levelled with the ground, reports CNN. The publication notes that Russia has started using powerful FAB-1500 air bombs, which are causing huge losses on the Ukrainian side and changing the balance on the front line. The bombs weigh 1.5 tonnes and are launched from fighter jets at a distance of 60-70 kilometres. This distance is beyond the range of many Ukrainian air defence systems.
