‪Your officers have always diplayed the act of an hostile towards their citizens, they are the real threat ! No simple fundamental law in most of their sculls. Only in Nigeria I have seen police walking around in Ankara and dirty Jean with a dangling AK 47 assaulted riffle. In a saner clime, I don’t need to say it cuz even urself knows how things works. The use of force must in all senses always be reasonable and should be the last resort. But the use of force is always ur own first approach here in Nigeria and you make sure you apply it with all sense of brutality. You guys fire a whole AK bullet into ur citizens body like it’s a knock out… Na only u dey act like FBI on twitter while others kept acting like machineries out there ‬

Very foolish and myopic statement. Did they use firearm to attack police! What about use of teasers/stun guns? On what basis did you shoot directly, and not warning shots first?

Tells you that these people are just animals.

It's getting good that the playing field is getting level gradually. Otherwise these police people would have put everyone under absolute slavery. T

U are thinking like a dullard. Police officers with fire arms are being attacked by mob who could eventually over power them and take Thier fire arm and u expect them to not use the fire arm. Police are not fool and they would have fired a warning shot before the incident happen. Even in advanced countries, police fire fire arm when their life is in danger. Sometimes they use ruuubber bullets. I am not a police officer but we have to be reasonable when judging this people even those they have thier excesses.
Remember ur family member might be the police officer in danger of being mob
u are the real dullard.

protect themselves against someone who is armed ?

Can everyone see the general stupidity of the Nigerian Police Force is streamedlined right from the top of the heirachy down to the idiots laying siege on the streets waiting to extort, kidnap and murder innocent Nigerians.

This can't be helped.

Bullshit!

The Police have been known to use their arms even when they were not faced with any danger. What did the Lagos lawyer do to threaten them that resulted in her being killed? Or the niece of Nenadi Usman or the other boy killed or numerous other Nigerians?

Tell yourself the truth, the police officers are not mentally equipped to handle firearms! There are situations where non-lethal means can be adopted! You do not need more than a water cannon and riot shields to push back protesters!!! Calling protesters a mob just to justify a shooting is absolutely wrong!

The spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, says under the law, police officers have the right to use their firearms to protect themselves in the face of danger, IGBERETV reports.

Hundeyin gave the clarification while reacting to the backlash police officers in the state received for using their firearms on a mob at the Alaba Rago market in the state on Tuesday, January 17, which led to the death of one of the attackers.

The officers had gone to the market to effect the arrest of a suspect but were challenged by a mob. In the process of retreating from the mob, a police officer fired his arm and it fatally injured one of the said attackers.

Hundeyin shared a portion of the Nigerian constitution that authorises the use of firearms in the face of danger.

Citizens also have a right to defend themselves with a firearm when all of you terrorist agents of the government threaten their lives.

Noted. The key phrase here is When Faced with Danger.

What about...
The officer that killed that female lawyer, was he faced with danger?
Or the officers that kill because of refusal to pay N100 bribe, were they faced with danger?

That’s why they’ll be an inquiry to ascertain whether the clause applies. Read and understand before pushing your hate narrative. Not all police officers are unruly

What is foolish and myopic about his clarification? You can't even do a fraction of that in USA before the police officers will send you to meet papa God.

What danger, the kind of danger that killed a young pregnant lawyer on Christmas day?

Rubbish!

Hehe! Was he talking about the incident that led to the death of the lawyer? He was specific about the incident and the law.

Most Times i weep for nigerians because those that are at the top only sees reason to adjust the constitution to benefit themself

Why will a police use gun or why will a police always use force cant they apprehend a criminal without harsh words or actions

We can do more than this it has happen before and it is still possible

Nigerians need a wise man to be great

Yes his message was clear; everyone has the right to Self Defence in the face of danger including armed policemen. Nigerians don't have issues with that.

More importantly, is the issue of trigger-happy policemen killing unarmed Nigerians at the slightest provocation. cool

Let them come to the US and try half of what they do with the Police officers. The former Twitter CEO edging them on during EndSars will never allow such protest around his own house. Know this and know peace...when Police stops you in the US, you become a dummy and follow instructions as stated

Exactly, ASP Drami Vandi is an innocent man!

They should have picked one or two and summarily executed them to buttress the point.

All the Igbo mumus spreading discord in Lagos should have been warned.

Its about 8:00 pm by my time. Take your drugs and ensure you complete your dosage. Try not to miss anyone again.
Thank you

This is why policemen need to have their recording body-gadgets on.
If a policeman kills someone, and his body-gadget is off, then whatever he says cannot be taken as truth, because it cannot be verified.

refusal to give police money is a danger to the police man's economic life
