In 1993, Abiola who was a muslim had a running mate, Baba Gana Kingibe who was also a Muslim. The then president, Ibrahim Babaginda was from the North and annulled the result of Abiolas win.

Here we are in 2023. Tinubu is a Muslim, his running mate Shettima is also a Muslim. The current President, Muhammadu Buhari is from the North.
