kini big deal , my classmate in high school , Ahmed Shittu , had seven A1's and two A3's way back in '95. He later graduated from Ife with a 4.95 cgpa and he didn't get as much as a hand shake from the LGA chairman let alone due recognition from the governor and we are here lauding five B's. SMMFH. |

@dayo Ok , since you know him so well what did he graduate with ? which course did he study ? what was his o' level result like ( which is even the bone of contention ) ?. Agreed he wasn't the best graduating student for that year and I never said he was , he surely was the best graduating student from his department. For those of you saying he shouldn't be reading accounting, what's that all about ? Do you even know any thing about the Secondary school system ? The guy just finished his SS3 and WAEC exams. His sitting for accounts in WAEC means he's already had his 3 years of senior secondary education in Commercial class. He probably has never seen a physics, chemistry or Further maths text book in his life. |

@werepeLeri The issue here is not about the state of public schools like 10yrs or more ago but the deplorable state of these schools now. The public schools have been left to rot and to be frank it is quite difficult now to see public school kids making outstanding grades in examinations because really they are being left on their own to really learn and the mindset of these present generation is different from a mindset of 10yrs or more ago. |

please the boy's performance should be applauded and not dissected as we are trying to do here. This is a very good thing and a deviation from what we normally here in the news; "impeachment", "embezellment', "bombardment", "harassment", etc, please let's congratulate the boy and his parents and of course let us give kudos to the press for recognizing this feat and also the Governor for at least being concerned. If our youhts see that there is celebration, acknowledgement, recognition and fame in academic acheivements, then they will channel their energy towards that, Please let's not just make comments for the sake of being heard. |

We should applaud the boy for his achievements but its painful to see that this is the kind of results getting Governor's attention. In the 90s, the best results from public schools used to better than this. You could hardly get a handshake from your principal then. Its a big mess we are in and most of our kids are in public schools. |
