Your line of thought is not absolutely correct. The reason why Lagos airport is booming is because we have other airports around the federation where people will fly to - Abuja, Owerri, Asaba, PH, Anambra, Kano.If Lagos is the only Airport in Nigeria, only Int'l flights will thrive at Lagos and country will be worse off

And if seaports move to the concurrent lists, states like Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia, Akwa Ibom and Cross River will build Seaports to compete with Lagos, not forgetting that Edo ,Anambra, Imo, Kogi, Niger can build River Ports to compete.

I am of the opinion that Mineral Resources should be on the concurrent list, so everyone can compete and no more excuses of FG holding anyone back

Now that the right to generate electricity is with the state, lets see what states will achieve in 10 years...you talk as if Akwa ibom don't have the license to construct a sea port..

Transferring items like control of railway and generation of electricity from the exclusive list to the concurrent list to be under the legislative competence of the House of Assembly of States without granting them control of their mineral resources and other sources of revenue, like seaports, is like putting dirty clothes and detergent in a washing machine without water and expecting clean clothes as the outcome of the process.

States like Lagos already control their railway. They can afford electricity generation. Imo cannot afford that without controlling its gas deposits or borrowing heavily. We know how much Buhari and Rotimi Amaechi borrowed to fund rail projects. Imagine such debt on states 😂

Akwa Ibom and Port Harcourt need to control their oil and gas deposits to avoid excessive borrowing to fund the projects. Zamfara needs to control its gold. Will Abia State, Ebonyi State or Kebbi State afford railway and electricity generation with the monthly allocation given to them?

The recent alteration will only increase the debt profile of States. The most important alteration to the CFRN 1999 required in Nigeria is for States to donate what they earn from their resources to the Federal Government instead of the Federal Government donating monthly stipends in form of allocation to states. It will promote healthy competition, innovation and hard work.

My state is one of the richest states though. We'll hold Sim/Ngozi accountable.

The beauty of it is that States can pursue ppp! No excuses!

So the ministers listed by ur previous competent government, what did achieve to grow Nigèria?
As always, rushing to comment without reading. Isn't it obvious that majority of Nigerians were tired of the poor governance style of the previous, and needed a better improvement as a result of which sought for a new pattern, only to be deceived by power drunk group without any plans. If Buhari had performed, it would have been a walkover for the next person to come under the same platform. Meanwhile, my line of thought is way above political, ethnic and religious affiliation contrary to yours. A sane Nigerian only desires & demands a better system that works because that will translate meaningfully life for all as it should be. In a sane clan, only competence & capacity is the requirements for leadership role irrespective of who you are. But in Nigeria, you see those that will suffer wrong policies the most supporting anything against their own existence. Yet run to religious houses begging God for help grin grin
The fact is irrespective of whosoever wins or loses, none of the candidates and their immediate families will know suffering. And if none of their wrong policies will affect them as well. It's the citizens that will queue in bank, fuel station, pay ransom, be in darkness, lose jobs, etc.

While it would be nice for states to control their resources, power generation, distribution and transmission can be achieved by partnering with the private sector. The monies some state expend on airports and other non-viable projects can be put into this partnership. The state governors have no excuse. They should be able to attract investment.

All these constitution amendments being done is like scratching the surface. The 1999 constitution needs fundamental amendment. We need amendments that can compel Presidents and Governors to carry out their duties or face firing squads. We need amendments that will make Public office 100% FREE SERVICE. That public office holders will not benefit a kobo as salaries, or allowances or any indirect benefit.
Make your money before the office.
We need amendments that will create regional police that will be managed by the governors of that region.

This doesn't make any sense. You think say public service na charity work? Doing everything you can under scrutiny and insult from the populace without a pay.
This is just a recipe for disaster and gross corruption, they will find another way to make money even without paying their salaries.

Akwa Ibom do not have the ATC from FG and FG will still run the Port after construction, and not Akwa Ibom or their consortium.

Where will most states get fund to construct power plants and distribution lines if not borrowing or signing slave contracts with so-called investors, not to talk about building railways or building & running prisons. The allocation from FG is meagre. We need to liberalize the economy and give States power over their God given natural resources, FG can retain the right fir offshore oil, as it is the case with Norway(the FG proceed from offshore oil will be for saving only to build our foreign reserve)

The poverty and the resultant suffering is choking people and we can only expect a rebound from the masses

As usual, gradually fine tunning their initial submission, ur initial comment said "this hasn't been a subject of debate until..." That's u justifying the previous governments, my question is this, the ones who have been rushing to list ministers, what improvement has it made in Nigeria.
U find it difficult answering this question?
Zelensky started a war that has killed millions of people, separated different homes, tore families apart, so many children don't know d whereabouts of their other family members vice versa, so many people stopped going to school, so many people killed, tell me how these things I listed affected him.
That's to tell u that leaders all over d world never get affected by their own decisions most of the time, just like Nigèrià, u are trying so hard to paint a picture u can't even comprehend.
Back to my question before writing am epistle.

Exactly. That is called restructuring revenue generation and allocation system. This will reduce the attraction to the position of president. It also allow states mine their resources legally and officially.

I think Zamfara and some other states in Nigeria control and mine their gold/natural resources "illegally" / "unofficially" / "unconstitutionally" while ensuring that the crude oil in the Niger Delta is the only major resources the FG mines legally, officially, and constitutionally.
