I haven't seen most people that actually know vanessa carlton so i was kinda delighted to see your post. Well what can i say i'm a rock freak. Check out the all american rejects. They're also very good. My other favourites include cold play, linkin park, creed, green day, lady antebellum, taylor swift, avril lavigne, breaking benjamin, paramore, evanescence. And how can i forget one republic, the fray. I'm sure there are still others i can't remember right now. I'm also into jazz, Yanni being my favourite jazz artist. Others include dave koz, vangelis, and then them Handel, mozart, even though they're not really jazz.
