Does God Consult With His Prophets Before Choosing Leaders? A lot of Christians actually think they could dictate to God or decide for Him who He would use for His work or to lead His people, however God overtime has shown that they were thinking in error, because He has never on any single occasion consulted with men or even sought their approval when it came to choosing any man or leader, even if they be His own prophets. One such occasion was when He chose a certain David to lead His people Israel. The highly respected prophet at the time, Samuel, didn't even know who the chosen one of God was when God sent him to the house of Jesse, to anoint him as king over His people. Samuel even mistook someone else for him. 1 Samuel 16:6-7 (KJV) And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD'S anointed is before him. But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. So Samuel believed the wrong person was "the LORD'S anointed", because he didn't know who he was, and he would have even proceeded to anoint the wrong person as king of Israel had God not stopped him, to prove that God didn't consult with him or seek his approval to chose the person. Prophet Samuel's own job was just to anoint the chosen one while it was God's job to chose the person. Moreover what transpired on that occasion suggests why God doesn't seek even the approval of His prophets when choosing a man, as they yet being humans could judge based on the outward appearance and according to the flesh as men do, despite being true prophets of God. Another similar instance was when God chose a certain Elisha to take over the prophetic office of Elijah. 1 Kings 19:15-16 (KJV) And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria: And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room. There was also the occasion of Ananias whom God had instructed to anoint Saul, the former chief persecutor of Christians, for His work, not long after he was converted by Christ, as despite Ananias complaining bitterly about Saul because of the evils he'd perpetrated against the church, God told him to yet proceed because he was His chosen one. Acts 9:15-16 (KJV) But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. So despite being a true apostle, the opinion of Ananias was observed to be immaterial as far as God was concerned in this regard. It was up to God alone and God let Ananias know that Saul was His chosen one regardless of what he, Ananias, thought about him, so he had to anoint Saul as God had commanded him to do. Hence that could also serve as God response to all those Christians, including those church leaders, who think they could have any say in who God chooses for his work or to lead His people, because God said this to an apostle who thought the same thing in the early church. That also shows that such orientation of Christians didn't begin today, however the glaring difference between Christians then and now, is that, they were yet led of God, so even though Ananias, was initially reluctant, he yet obeyed God and anointed Saul. However with those of today, it's by fire or by force. It's either their way or no other way, so if it were up to them, even the apostle Paul who they behave as though "na dem love am pass" would never had been chosen by God, needless say, anointed towards achieving all that God used him to do. Hence that's an area they need to learn from the prophets and apostles of old, as Samuel and Ananias, that it's up to God to chose whomsoever He will for his own work, because otherwise they'd keep walking amiss and being left out of what God is doing, because God doesn't follow man, it's man that ought to follow God. But if man refuses to follow God, man would only find himself walking alone. God bless. |

So a man doesn't need the approval of men, even if they be true men of God, prophets or apostles, to be chosen of God. All a man needs is God's approval. Once a man's got that, wherever the need arises, God could decide to send any of His servants, whomever it is, to anoint him for the work God had chosen him to do. God bless. |

Also for those who think they can get away with disobedience of God's Word because they're approved of by their church leaders, they should think again, because even their church leaders would have to answer to God for themselves if they went contrary to what God commanded them to do, so they cannot be there to exempt any of their followers from the same. God bless. |
