your analysis is very good but let me add this to it, if we have 5 Strong contenders and they all shared FCT votes non of them when have 25 percent. For example if FCT votes are 500,000 and we have good 5 contenders each scoring below 100,000 votes each. Then none will get 25 percent
at that point they we have a re run between the 2 with highest vote that is the constitution

It’s not about “makes sense”. It’s about what the law says.

If you want to change it, then you have to change the constitution.

But until then, it is what it is.

With due respect. Prof is a dull man.

Prof. Let me ask you. What is the essence of the election when all it takes to fail is 'not make' 25% in FCT?

It means even though you win the entire 36 states with 98%, and garner over 34billion votes across the states. Not getting 25% in FCT means another election of 300bn will be re-conducted.

All it takes is political actors without any road to victory or path to majority votes, making sure they block any body from getting 25% in FCT; by crook or hook. Because they know even 25billion votes cant save anyone.

All it takes is political parties focusing on FCT only and giving middle fingers to the other states. They can even try importing people from 36 states into FCT just to vote and scuttle the opposition impending victory

People like Sowore and others who know they cant win will just campaign only in FCT, bribe the residents and make sure the votes are split. Then we will keep repeating election till thy-kingdom-come without president.

As a Prof,e make sense? Is this logical?

Yes. But you must get 25% votes in that particular ‘state’

blacknp:
It is quite logical, read & understand:

299. The provisions of this Constitution shall apply to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja as if it were one of the States of the Federation; and accordingly -

(a) all the legislative powers, the executive powers and the judicial powers vested in the House of Assembly, the Governor of a State and in the courts of a State shall, respectively, vest in the National Assembly, the President of the Federation and in the courts which by virtue of the foregoing provisions are courts established for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja;

(b) all the powers referred to in paragraph (a) of this section shall be exercised in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution; and

(c) the provisions of this Constitution pertaining to the matters aforesaid shall be read with such modifications and adaptations as may be reasonably necessary to bring them into conformity with the provisions of this section.

FCT is not a state! There is no state legislature or judiciary in FCT as we have it in other states. The FCT Minister is an appointment-based (not elective-based) position, meaning FCT residents do not vote their governors/ministers. To force a governor/minister on Abuja people, ensure you secure 25% of their votes. It is not compulsory for a president to secure 25% in Lagos because Lagos people will choose who would govern them in their state. This is not the situation in Abuja.

What we have is "36 states" and "the FCT", not "37 states including the FCT." This is a VERY clear matter.

However, the position of the judges would be based on how best they interpret the word "AND." As far as the FCT's state status is concerned, Abuja is NOT and will never be a state until residents begin to produce their governors through the ballot.

Tinubu's victory will CERTAINLY be withdrawn unless the judges allowed themselves to be bribed.

Did the constitution explain all this trash you typed here. Or you formed it from the figment of your own delusional imagination.

In the words Prof Wole Soyinka, they are here already grasping at empty air.

Tinubu's portrait will soon adorn offices of all formal organisations in Nigeria, SE inclusive. Infact any igwe or eze should attempt not hanging Tinubu's portrait in his parlour and see what happens afterwards.

And what will happen afterwards

Is there a law mandating every one to hang the portrait of the president, infact not just any president, but a Notorious narcotic drug trafficker parading himself as president elect

Law is not to be rationalized. It is what it is irrespective of whether it makes sense or not. That's why there is provision for amendment. But as at today, it is what it is. Full stop

the answer is simple Abuja has no structure so it cant be rigged easily moreso Abuja is a small Nigeria where you have every region present at almost proportion NC, NW NE, SW SE and SS so its imposible to be popular in this region without been popular in the FCT
So you don't have all region present in Lagos ?

Professor, come here and answer this simple question: Are Abuja voters members of aristocracy or do they have two heads or are they first class citizens while the rest of us are second class citizens? If your answer is no, why should they be treated differently? Answer my question with references to support your scholarly view point. Word limit = 10,000 words. Any act of plagiarism will result in 20 years in prison with hard labour.
There's difference between law and logic. You are not saying what the law says.

What about the introduction of "technicalities" by Nigeria judicial system? Anytime the judges wants to help politicians, they abandon logic and use judicial abracadabra call technicalities.
