Dear people of God ,

Please,I need your input on how to contact the Home Office for an application within the UK on my situation.

I'm not sure if this will help, but I used the Employer Checking Service to prove my right to work while I was waiting for my visa last year.

The only catch is that your potential or current employer is the one who has to initiate the check. Here is the link: https://www.gov.uk/employee-immigration-employment-status

Please avoid home office if you are not up to 3years or 5years in the UK depending on the type of clearance needed. I got an offer for SEO role and the offer was later withdrawn because of not having enough footprints in the UK. This even after sending references o. You can imagine the heartbreak. People should apply to other departments.

Don't kill the messenger...... Heed the message...

Applicants would need to be qualified enough, before they apply..... No carry your akara pass mosalashi......😂😜

If need be, look for lower starting roles, once your feet don firm like chicken, start looking for higher roles (it's always easier to grow from within).....

Because one person's application was rejected, does not mean the other, would be rejected...let's not have this defeatist attitude.....

The application is free, nothing ventured..... Nothing gained .....

SC was not waived, it was done. It was cybersecurity role.
bigtt76:
Wow ...any idea what field the person was employed in to? Could it be that the SC was waived because of the level of work required did not necessarily require such?

You’re right, heard similar experiences of others with the home office. I too am a victim, got an offer as a senior business analyst but was also withdrawn. The level of clearance must be the issue, I actually thought it had to do with visa length, hmm it looks clearer to me now. Thanks for bringing this up.

Well, one thing I always tell people to is look out for the nationality requirement and the SC clearance stuff If less than 3 years to avoid wasting time and energy on the application.

If not clear, a contact mail is always at the bottom page of the advert.

EO and above and I don’t think DWP offer sponsorship for the JOB COACH role.

A friend got sponsorship at AO role with DWP tho she was moving from student visa directly to work visa.

Someone else wasn’t given for the AO because the person is moving from a work visa.

Seems hmrc could sponsor EO (will not sponsor AO), same as DWP.

Best bet is to start working with them with other visa say like graduate visa, the chances of getting visa will be high. For instance, on norms Ministry of defense don’t sponsor visa if the job is not on shortage occupation list, but someone got the sponsorship because the person has been working with them while on graduate visa.

For nationality requirements, they mostly will say commonwealth citizens with uk right to work are eligible so citizens from countries like Nigeria and Ghana are always eligible.

The only exception for nationality is when a DV clearance is required which only British citizens are eligible. And as for clearance for most jds they will still say though length of residence doesn’t mean clearance cannot be given and that’s why even those with lesser length of residency can be SC cleared. But from what we are seeing these days it’s obvious the length of residency is still a issue then why are they still granting clearance to folks with short residency stay and then denied them the jobs after going through all the hard work of interviewing screening and background checks. Lots of ambiguity here and there

Congratulations, Lucky you that your application got into reserve.

Your application was okay and your interview was good aswell. You might be called up anytime. Just keep applying. Wish you best of luck.

A friend was on reserve list for 4 months and got called after. (EO role), this is slow because lots people still stays on EO role.

Three others got reserve list and were called after within a week. (AO role), this is fast because lots of people leave AO.

Lots of other reason why people are out on reserv list which I can’t list all.

Yeah for DWP, if you get 30 you should get the job straight away I think

Your arguments are valid.

Think applicants are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, which means that while the residency requirement is a significant factor, it is not the only consideration

I also observe that lots of roles and projects these days are requiring more of DV clearance making lots of SC cleared applicants look like a joke. So those jds where SCs are stated may actually not be eligible at the end of the day to work on projects requiring DV. Quite tricky so people should be aware.

Hmn, same thing happened to me, the care home I worked for refused me visa 2 months to the expiration of my visa, psw wasn’t very sure then due coursework that was resubmitted(committed to working for the care home because we aren’t sure of the psw), permission to apply for psw was approved by the school 2 weeks to visa expiration, went to apply for visa immediately, was a long story.

Happy that it did not workout with the care home, then got a job with a private firm 2nd month after psw came through.

I pray your disappointment becomes a blessing for you guys also soon.

Good morning and thanks for the responses to my question. 🙏🏾

Half my class is into inconsistent shift-based menial jobs and I can’t believe I also considered doing same when I initially just got here. It took me reading certain experiences from here to upend my perspective (that thing about nairaland being a gem will alwaysss be true!). Because of info from here, I got a stable job that allows me to work within my student hours limits with amazing work benefits too!

Also, I have to thank whoever posted about Cv library (can’t remember the handle), but it changed everything for me! Thank you!

Please how did you do it? It would be great and I would really appreciate if you can give me a little guide on how to go about mine relating to how you did yours and got a job with benefits.

I'm a Student here also.

Hello

Backlog situation

If you have raised a complaint and chased the with the contact centre then that’s really all you can do at the moment

Don’t worry too much, if your employers are asking for share code show them evidence of your application and use the employer’s check link someone put here for you

Cheers

Dear people of God ,

Please,I need your input on how to contact the Home Office for an application within the UK on my situation.

My family and I applied to switch to a Tier 2 visa since August. My wife, who is the main applicant, got her visa early in October, while i and the children's visas are still not yet out. This is the 11th week of these applications. i am really worried because our Tier 4 had already expired in late October.

I have successfully completed my MSc, and i am supposed to start working full time now, but this delay is not helping as most of the work i demanding my share code.

I have called the HO, they only told me to send mail to the complaint, which I did two weeks ago. Still no feedback yet. This is really frustrating; what else can i do to address this? Has anyone experienced this before? I need the best advice, please. I am tired of checking my email.

Just search ‘UK bank switch offers’ on Google and you’ll see multiple pages with details of the latest ones and all the requirements.

Thanks I did that before making this post. Saw Barclays, saw first direct offering £175 even revolut @ £20 but I've once heard there's an offer of over £200 for switching... Above all,I want to get advice from people who have experienced it first hand - that's the major reason Nairaland trumps Google for me. The community.
