There's no need for all this unnecessary argument.

How did he go about it, taking from here and adding there ? Is that the economic excellent you want to praise in this video ?, President Ruto said he increases VAT by 100%, ie he doubled VAT, then took about 4-5% of petroleum prices , is that the excellence you want to praise here, did he say he increased minimum wage ? So one removed subsidy in its entirety, and doesn't need to revisit it again (infact he didn't remove it , it was removed already from the budget he met), the other removed some 5-8% in fuel prices , doubled VAT, and removed the discrepancies in forex trade , what is the point you are trying to bring out, just this morning a fake news that the CBN was increasing the dollar value so to try and remove the black market rate , many of you were still criticising it, but here you have a president that did same and closed the window btw official rate and black market rate and you bring that here to promote it, this leaves me with this question , what exactly do you want ? That Tinubu should leave already because you don't like him , You Bigots

No reasonable person would be against the removal of fuel subsidy. The problem now is the manner in which it was removed.
so why did tinubu, Buhari, Tunde bakare & other APC stalwart fought against subsidy under goodlock era

You and I know that fuel subsidy is not the reason why Nigerians do not enjoy uninterrupted power supply but misappropriation and outright embezzlements of resources with beneficiaries going scot-free because Kenyan government subsidized their petroleum products and still ensured 24/7 electricity supply. I lived and worked in Nairobi, it is very, very, very difficult to see a generator in people's homes and that is a reflection of their confidence in their public power supply system.
We like deceiving ourselves in Nigeria. Which kenyan government subsidized their petroleum products? They tried it for a few months and had Nigeria-kind of fuel shortages and queues. Get your facts right, Sir. Nobody warned them before they removed it sharp sharp. How many countries are bouyant enough in Africa to try Nigeria's kind of fuel subsidy thing for one year. This year alone kenya has suffered serious salary issues. And their power supply is no longer what it was. How can you be subsidising fuel with $12bn yearly on average in a poor country like Nigeria and expect good power supply or good workers' welfare? You've eaten your cake already as #190 petrol price nao.

Because all politicians are liars and also because they were in opposition and Jonathan was weak. He should have stood his ground like tinubu is going to stand his ground. grin

Kenyans presently pays for a litre of petrol for about N950 (Ksh182.70) post subsidy, research how much Kenyans were buying it before the present pricing......get your facts right. Even as at 2021, I was buying petrol in Nairobi at about N665 (ksh127.72) per litre.

Kenya still has way better power supply than Nigeria, during their subsidy and after its removal.

I no follow una eat the N190/litre cake while it lasted as I was never around but even where I am, I drive a Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

That's exactly what i was telling you. Were Kenyans buying fuel at #190 like Nigeria? And you expect things to work! Buying fuel at #650 in kenya as far back as 2021! Remember the ksh has fallen over 20% since then. No wonder they are now buying at close to#1000. Do you now see why you have not been enjoying good power supply in Nigeria? I expected you to commend the present regime for not reverting the subsidy removal. We can only show anger if in a year's time power supply and our debt issue continue. Saving #12bn yearly is a big deal, my brother, even for rich countries not to talk of dirt poor ones.

If in a year's time power supply does not drastically improve, I promise you I will not show anger because my family houses in Lagos and in the village are already off the national grid since 2019, having access to electricity when needed. I just hope that Nigerians in Nigeria would be smart enough to research and come up with alternative energy source as generating methane from their food waste to cook, eliminating buying LPG.

Don't mind him. Funnily enough, I recall how same lack of fuel, alongside scarcity of money policy and power were supported throughout the whole two months leading to election time. Some felt it wouldn't make Tinubu to win. That's why I laugh when I see some people saying gibberish about mandate stolen. Lol. What mandate was stolen exactly? Even most of the people in the federal government were against Tinubu yet he won. Man has been building his whole structure all his life from 1999 but you all thought it was a joke..

Anyway, I know Tinubu is quite capable of handling the whole subsidy stuff and the marketers. He handled OBj bullshit while he was Lagos state governor for example despite Obj being the President!
Tinubu of 1999 is no longer the Tinubu of 2023. He is old now or can’t you see properly? He can’t function like he functioned when he was a governor. He will definitely not be in control of this government, that is why Remi is always by him.. Remi will be the one making most of the decisions.. I hope you know how women work with emotions? So Nigeria is in for a long ride, take it or leave it.

Interesting. So what do you use in the village in terms of alternative power supply? I use solar panels in Ibadan but it's still quite expensive but reliable.

Solar panels and two roof-mounted small wind turbines because my area is windy and they get the batteries well charged.

There's no need for all this unnecessary argument.

Nigerians are very easily decieved. This is a price hike not subsidy removal. If subsidy is totally removed the downstream sector will be totally deregulated meaning that government will allow private companies to import PMS and sell without price fixing. Then there will be competition that will eventually force the price down in few years time. The government will also allow modular refineries to support local supply in addition to dangote refinery.

None of these has been done and Nigerians are being decieved that subsidy is gone. This movie go looooooong
