The National University Commission (NUC) has presented provisional license to Ah-Muhibbah Open University among 36 other new private universities across the country that got approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on May 15th, 2023.

Some of the new universities include; Rayhaan University, Kebbi State, Muhammad Kamalu-Deen University, Kwara State, Al-Muhibbah Open University, FCT, Sam Maris University, Ondo State and Aletheia University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun state; Lux Mundi University, Abia state, Maduka University, Enugu state, Peaceland University, Enugu state, Amadeus University, Abia state, Vision University, Ogun state, Azman University, Kano state, Huda University, Zamfara state, Franco British International University, Kanuna and Canadian University of Nigeria, FCT among others.

the Executive Secretary, of NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, at the presentation of provisional licenses to the universities, said that the number of private universities in the country now stood at 147 and a total of 264 universities across the country.

Rasheed charged the proprietors of the newly established universities to ensure that the motive for creating the universities was not for money but for a higher and noble goal.


“In establishing universities, you don’t expect to get financial rewards. If your main motive is to make money, then you are in the wrong place. You are here to pay back to humanity. ,” he added.


While charging the proprietors of quality assurance in the universities, the NUC boss assured of the commission’s support and cooperation to grow the university system.

Some dignitaries present include the First Lady of Bauchi State Government, Hajia Aisha Bala Mohammed, the chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, Senator Seriake Dickson, Isah Pantami, Donald Duke, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, JAMB Register, Prof. Ishaq Olarewaju Oloyede among others.

The proprietor of Ah-Muhibbah Open University, FCT, Hajia Aisha Bala Mohammed while thanking the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and the National University Commission (NUC) pledges to make the university a global standard where Women who do not have access to education will be educated, she further thanks all her planning committee for the sleepless night in ensuring that the school got approved.
