mrvitalis: Damn… If this is true, then we probably need to consider nuclear power plants. Those can ramp up power generation in a big way without costing the masses. 1 Like |

mrvitalis:We are saying similar things but not the same. Your position is that people must work hard to improve their financial status before expecting a steady power supply while my position is that the government whether state or central must ensure a steady power supply is available so those who can afford it will be able to utilized it to create more wealth for themselves. NO ONE IS ASKING FOR FREE ELECTRICITY. The problem with your position is that it will never happen. Wealth creation and financial improvement in this generation is tied to a steady supply of power. Anything less will put a people on the disadvantaged side of this highly competitive world. Do you know how much farm produce perish weekly due to improper storage as a result of epileptic electricity supply? Do you know the amount of loss suffered all around because of it? If you don't know, it is one of the major reason behind the closure of many businesses. Rent is cheaper here in Nigeria than other countries but absence of steady power is still killing businesses. You'll never understand until you visit other countries where a steady power supply is available. 4 Likes |

mrvitalis: SMEs are actually very important for poverty eradication in any economy not just the big companies. When you understand that these SMEs are the most impacted by unreliable supply or no electricity then you will understand the importance of what we are talking about. If you are a dairy farmer with lots of cows in some rural community in Nigeria without electricity would you still argue that the problem is money or lack of it? |

mrvitalis: Really? I just cited the example of dairy farmer. Is this not an SME in your estimation? Did you think it is economically feasible to generate his own electricity? Perhaps welders and barbers, mechanics and shoe makers etc should generate their own uninterrupted electricity. |

Rostikol:Bros every company that closed ask them what closed them is never lack of power I have a factory I have never been connected to power... Even with diesel at 1000 it's not the upto 5% the cost of production Not yo talk of big companies that use CNG gas turbine that's 300per kg Electricity is not our problem we have bigger problem |

mrvitalis: And your factory's power requirement is exactly like every others out there? If you are using tap water to make pure water satchets that is a factory too and your power requirements cannot be the same as a welder or other metal work concern. |
Re: Nigeria’s Electricity Deficit, World’s Largest -UK Envoy by mrvitalis(m): 5:45pm On Oct 26, 2023 |
ElSudani:It's a small scale factory.... The bigger the factory the bigger the generator the bigger the generator the lower the cost of production |
Re: Nigeria’s Electricity Deficit, World’s Largest -UK Envoy by ElSudani: 5:47pm On Oct 26, 2023 |
mrvitalis: Generators if used at all in industrialized countries are for temporary back up, there's a reason for this. |
Re: Nigeria’s Electricity Deficit, World’s Largest -UK Envoy by mrvitalis(m): 5:50pm On Oct 26, 2023 |
ElSudani:Absolutely what's there na The only thing a dairy farmer needs electricity for24/7 is the 1) pasteurizing machine 2) refrigerated holding thanks.... Feed processing machine is max 4 hours a day Water pumping machine 2 hours a day A farm that needs all this would need to produce at least 5000 litres per day... And at that rate 15 million solar system can solve all his power problem for 7 years minimum If its less than 5000 best is to convert his milk to yogurt at that rate 4 million can get you enough solar to power a 100l to 5000l per day yogurts factory Hope I answered you |

ElSudani:Most big companies In developed countries have generate their own electricity oga do your research... Most big companies Do your research Why because it's cheaper to produce your own power |

Re: Nigeria’s Electricity Deficit, World’s Largest -UK Envoy by Angelfrost(m): 9:25am On Oct 27, 2023 |
The deficit has nothing to do with generation or supply...! It's largely down to affordability. Over 80% of Nigerians can't afford uninterrupted power supply... Hell, most Nigerians can't even afford an economy that is not heavily subsidized. 2 Likes 1 Share |

MrVitalis is correct with his analysis. Until Nigeria graduates from a vicious economy to a virtuous economy we will keep hearing the same stories. Whatever happened to the Siemens power arrangement? Any serious company can get Nigeria powered in 1 to 2 years at least but the buying power of Nigerians have been frittered away through different means 1 Like |
